It is being whispered that more than 100,000 tickets were sold here in Germany yesterday on its first day of pre-sales... That's a sensational number...

Hopefully we will get some official numbers Monday...

My theatres is doing pretty well with pre-sales. I read about some theatres breaking their in-house pre-sale records. Any opening below 700,000 admissions would very much surprise me.

I'm a bit surprised that 50SOG got an 18 rating in the UK...

Not that it matters on a global scale, but this is the first time I've ever seen a report on how many tickets were sold in pre-sales in Croatia. 50SOG apparently sold 30,000 tickets in pre-sales, which sounds pretty big to me. Based on ticket prices that's a minimum of $0.3m opening which is huge. Too bad MOJO hasn't been updating my country since November.

Yeah pre-sales are extreme with this film. Much like other female skewing films but larger. It's certainly a female trait of being super organised and booking as far ahead as possible lol.

Judging by Thursday's opening day, weekend looks like 1.3m admissions ($13.5m) in Germany.
That would be the biggest February opener ever and the third (maybe second) best opener with a 16 rating...

Quote:
3RD UPDATE, SATURDAY AM: If Fifty Shades Of Grey handcuffs Universal’s very early international weekend estimate of $158.3M, it will become the studio’s 2nd biggest offshore opening frame ever, just behind Fast & Furious 6’s $160.3M. Outside sources whisper that it is likely to climax even higher than that for this five-day session. It is expected to be far-and-away the biggest opening weekend of all-time for an R-rated film overseas, whipping previous title holder The Matrix Revolutions at $117M.

Post subject:  Re: Fifty Shades of Grey (INTL) WW Friday Cume $96m

Not really a surprise for me. Europeans are more likely to attend to see what the hype is all about, and not turned off by the sex. But it will have big drops everywhere next weekend, I imagine.

$66m OS is much more impressive than $30m domestically.
