The Gambler is in a strange spot, coming out next Friday via Paramount in limited release as if it were still an Oscar hopeful. It will no doubt be overshadowed and earn far less than it could have released at another time of year, just positioned as a Mark Wahlberg crime-movie star vehicle.

Absolutely agreed. Should have just scrapped this limited release and gone wide early 2015. Now it will probably be a dud.
