They have been marketing the hell out of Exodus. If it doesn't make $40m, it will be a disappointment. I think it will underperform. Bale and Edgerton are not bankable leads, and Scott is a shit director. I will predict a $26m weekend.

Why would Top Five make only 2 Million from 950 theaters?

The Real Cancun made $2.2m from 2,260 theatres. So, it can happen.

Would be hilarious if Exodus opens to like $24m and then drops -60% against Hobbit.

But this isn't The Real Cancun. This is a buzzed about, insanely well-reviewed movie with a strong cast.

EXODUS - 42 MILLION
TOP FIVE - 10 MILLION

Exodus- 42 million
Top Five- 7.5 million

Top Five has had some early awards buzz too. I think this will end up surprising with it's roll out over the holidays and make 50+

Exodus: Gods and Kings - 37
Top Five - 6

I really don't know what to expect from Exodus anymore. It had potential to become a true EVENT film and should have been able to open to $50M+, but it just doesn't feel like there is much buzz for it. The marketing is good, but it doesn't feel like it's connecting with general audiences for some reason.

The mediocre reviews are going to kill ALOT of momentum aswell.

Although I guess it isn't a good sign that Top Five is losing fans already. :hahaha:

The bad reviews have halted all the momentum that Exodus was building up. It will probably still open over $40M, but this could have been much bigger.

Theyve marketed the fuck out of Exodus.

Still thinking low 50s.

The marketing for Exodus has shown absolutely no reason for you to see this version of Moses as opposed to The Ten Commandments and The Prince of Egypt. Here, I don't think the quantity of the marketing will help it any more than The Amazing Spider Man 2's over marketing.

I hope it disappoints haha.

Hopefully Hobbit can take up the mantle of overperformance. Maybe a surprise win for the year.

Exodus won't open far above 30m. I'm thinking more around 27m - maxing out at 33m if things go right for it.

It didnt set the world on fire here in Oz and this is the closest market to North America in terms of audience behaviour.

I would prefer that Hunger Games win, but Hobbit would be better than GOTG too. Not to knock GOTG, but if it was the biggest film of the year, that would be embarrassing for the film industry at large if franchises like Hunger Games, Middle Earth, X-Men and Spider-Man get out grossed by some random MArvel property about a walking tree and a talking raccoon.

That says A LOT about its bad title. I can't recall anything about it. I'll check out the trailer again soon.

I'm kind of sensing The Day the Earth Stood Still 2.0 with Exodus. I guess we'll see.

Exodus: Gods and Kings - 34
Top Five - 6

Kingdom of Heaven adjusts to a $25m OW (with a 39% on Rotten Tomatoes) and that was against decent competition.

Can't imagine it opening worse than that. Would be a complete disaster.
