Age of Ultron vs. Episode 7 opening day
These will be the two biggest grossing days of 2015. Predict.
Right now I'll go with: Age of Ultron-25 previews+57=82 million Episode VII-34 previews+53=87 million

I'll go with Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens for the win.

Re: Age of Ultron vs. Episode 7 opening day
Age of Ultron still has this locked up I think.
I know it's Star Wars, but it is still opening in December. And there are many reasons why December is one of the weakest months for films on opening weekends despite high profile releases. April and August will surpass December in bigger opening weekends very soon, meaning only the down months of January, February, September and October will be behind it.
Now, I have no doubt Episode VII will easily break the December opening weekend record with absolute ease.

Age of Ultron for sure. December is all about legs even though I am sure SW7 will easily break the OW record and get to the $100m+ OW mark in December.

I predict that this won't be true, both the biggest days will be for the Avengers.

Star Wars doesn't what month it's playing. All it does is break records.

Re: Age of Ultron vs. Episode 7 opening day
Let's see what the first Star Wars trailer has in store (the teaser was good, but not good enough to beat Age of Ultron). If it goes full nostalgia and gets everyone into a frenzy, I think Age of Ultron is in trouble. I remember a bunch of left us left school early to see Phantom Menace. And there were lines at many movie theaters just to buy tickets! People camped out, etc.

We have seen no trend in huge increase in previews since Aurora. I dont see friday minus previews increasing that much. It could even decrease if 3d share go down.

Yes, they were, because Lucas is a lying bastard that never had the idea of a 9-film franchise before 1977 (but claims he had this master plan). Yeah whatever, Lucas.

Re: Age of Ultron vs. Episode 7 opening day
BTW, why the hell did Revenge of the Sith open on Thursday? It's pretty crazy to think that before Sith we didn't have a 50+ million opening day.

Re: Age of Ultron vs. Episode 7 opening day
I still think Quote: Ultron = 100m+ opening day locked
Force Awakens = 70m-100m opening day(will destroy December record), I personally hope it clears 100m.

Re: Age of Ultron vs. Episode 7 opening day
I think you guys are just assuming Age of Ultron will be this big, huge uber-blockbuster like The Avengers was just because. But think about it...why was The Avengers so big? That novelty has long passed.

Re: Age of Ultron vs. Episode 7 opening day
The way I look at it, the time of year cannot allow for SW7 to open that big.
Big numbers will mostly come from how it holds over the holidays.

Re: Age of Ultron vs. Episode 7 opening day
It's Star Wars. I don't think the time of year matters at all. Think opening day will go to Star Wars. Not sure about weekend.

Re: Age of Ultron vs. Episode 7 opening day
Star Wars has gained new fans since '99 and especially since the clone wars animated series started. Add all the fans of the original trilogy and we will get records set like no others before.
