Re: Weekend Estimates (October 4-6)
Far more shocking is its huge overseas openings. It's beating all non-TDK films in near all the major countries (aside from China of course). I feel there is 0% chance WB doesn't throw all the money at Phoenix to face off against Pattinson. The success of this basically means there cant be another Joker for 7-10 years. Flash prediction: 2021: THE BATMAN 250m/650m/2b 2022: JOKER 2: 140m/400m/1b 2023: BATMAN ft. ROBIN vs. JOKER: 380m/950m/3b

Re: Weekend Estimates (October 4-6)
International estimate is $140.5m, nearly double what Deadline was projecting. Wow.

Re: Weekend Estimates (October 4-6)
They will treat Joker similar to Voldemort in Potter / Sirius Black in Azakan.
Thematically, they will have Bats and Joker arise to face as a response to the same problem albeit with very similar approaches.

What's the biggest R-rated movie WW, Deadpool? Will be interesting to see how high this goes.

Re: Weekend Estimates (October 4-6)
Those OS numbers are stunning. Way more impressive than it's domestic opening IMO even though that's nothing to scoff at either. Warner Bros is going to make a killing here.

Re: Weekend Estimates (October 4-6)
Great domestic opening and even better overseas, especially with no China. Assuming there is no China release, should be good for $650m+ and I’m thinking around $750m WW. Think it will have decent legs and at least hit $250m domestic.

Re: Weekend Estimates (October 4-6)
It opened huge specially in OS and the WoM seems good but I still feel the legs won't be as good as many are expecting. Let's see how it unfolds next weekend.

Re: Weekend Estimates (October 4-6)
It 2 and Joker look to be the only movies this year to finish in the 200s. Last year we had 8. Think the only other movie I could see finishing in the 200s for the rest of the year is Jumanji if it drops like I'm expecting.

Re: Weekend Estimates (October 4-6)
Agree regarding Jumanji likely dropping below $300m - I see $275m or so.

Re: Weekend Estimates (October 4-6)
Updated studio estimates has it dropping only 25% on sunday. so overall weekend in 96m. That really is a good sign for its legs.

I think legs will be better then Venom just cause the controversy will carry it further (and it has easier competition) but I’m not ready to say 300m+ is in play. Venom dropped under 20% because Monday was Columbus Day

Re: Weekend Estimates (October 4-6)
Joker monday 9.72. Very promising drop indeed. If it has really good 2nd weekend drop then 300m will be in play.

The audience I saw it with clapped. It may be divisive among some crowds but it also has a must-see factor and very enthusiastic supporters. I wouldn't be surprised to see $300m+.

Re: Weekend Estimates (October 4-6)
Now that I've seen it my fears that this wouldn't play well to mainstream auds was unfounded. This is legging it to $300m.
