Baby did a bad, bad thing
Baby did a bad, bad thing
Baby did a bad, bad thing
Baby did a bad, bad thing

You ever love someone so much
You thought your little heart was gonna break in two?
I didn't think so

You ever tried with all your heart and soul
To get your lover back to you?
I wanna hope so

You ever pray with all your heart and soul
Just to watch her walk away?

Baby did a bad, bad thing
Baby did a bad, bad thing
Baby did a bad, bad thing
Feel like crying
Feel like crying

I am the only one in my sin city tonight. Hands down the first time that's happened. Even Ex 3 had about 30 people

AMC Phipps Plaza 14 for the 7:00pm showing of Sin City 2 only has 6 tickets sold. It sums up that it will be a flop if any theaters are selling low like this.

I am in the theatre for an 8:20 showing. HUGE auditorium with maybe 25 or 30 people in it. Embarrassing turnout.

I texted my friend who works at the movie theater here and he said nobody was in the 7:20 RPX showing and only 3 people were in the 7:50 2D showing. The NY State Fair started here yesterday though, so that may have something to do with it. Still, that is just terrible.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
6:30
40 people in a 96-seater

Trailers
Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (red band; man, talk about a desperate, unnecessary sequel)
Dracula Untold
Kingsman
The Hateful Eight (I definitely wasn't expecting to see this teaser - not that there's anything to it beyond "oh, hey, it exists")

While definitely not without its merits, Sin City: A Dame to Kill for represents a somewhat disappointing sequel in light of the heights that its predecessor reached. Whereas that film felt groundbreaking and slicker than most other films of its type, this one doesn't really differentiate itself from other stylized, heavily digital movies. Nevertheless, it is still more than sufficiently entertaining. Rodriguez's style is still fun to watch, the cast members are clearly having a great deal of fun playing with a smattering of noir tropes, and it's never boring. However, it lacks the same kind of special oomph that the first film had, and that absence is clearest at the end of the film. While the first film had a satisfying and nuanced climax followed by a clever coda, this one ends abruptly even though it intends to provide a moment of catharsis. I enjoyed A Dame to Kill For, and odds are good that many big fans of the original film will probably have fun with it as well; however, it's not the sequel that we were hoping the involved players could deliver. B

Audience seemed split on it. I went with two people who hadn't seen the first film - one greatly enjoyed it; the other simply said it was "really, really weird."

Yes, the Hot Tub Time Machine 2 trailer is awful. Seems very low-rent. They could not even secure John Cusack's involvement. ;)

The other trailers at my showing were Addicted, Dracula Untold, The Hateful Eight, and The Interview.

the HTTM2 trailer actually made me laugh though. :|

I saw a pretty packed (filled with teenage girls...) screening of If I Stay at 7:40. Trailers were Mockingjay Pt. I, Dophin Tale 2, Hobbit 3, Annie, Ouija and The Maze Runner. Response was what you expect, giggles and aws.

Saw Magic in the Moonlight at 1:45. It was in a huge auditorium at my theater and it was only one other person and myself in attendance. Too bad. It's a fun flick. The woman asked me what I thought on the way out and I told her I really enjoyed it. She said she did as well. I'd give it a B.

Trailers:

Love Is Strange
The Imitation Game
(This looks very good)
Whiplash (Ditto)
The Theory of Everything

Then saw What If at 3:55. There was three of us in attendance.

Trailers:

Pride
The Imitation Game
The Wedding Ringer
If I Stay

Lovely little movie. I didn't really think it looked that good and would have been happy waiting to see it on Blu-ray but the really good reviews were encouraging and I like to support the smaller movies when my theater gets them. Really glad I did. It was delightful. So funny and charming and sweet. Loved Radcliffe and Kazan in it.

A-

Then Sin City at 5:45 PM. 7 of us in a fairly big auditorium.

Trailers:

Dracula Untold
The November Man
Amityville: The Awakening
Men, Women & Children
The Interview
Into The Woods

I had a lot of fun with this. Loved visiting this world again. It's not quite as great as the first but I can't say I was disappointed. I am getting tired of Eva Green playing the same roles though. I do like her and she was the best thing about 300: Rise of an Empire. But I wasn't overly impressed by her here. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was very good. And most surprisingly so was Jessica Alba. I didn't think it looked cheaper than the first either. Granted I haven't seen the original in years but I loved the visuals in both films. Thought this one looked just as cool as I remember the other looking.

B+

No Hateful Eight trailer before your Sin City showing?

Oh yes there was. I forgot all about it. It's not easy trying to remember all of the trailers but that one definitely wasn't very memorable :P.

The Hateful Eight trailer was the one I remembered most clearly, if only because I definitely did not expect to see it. Granted, it does nothing but identify the characters, name-drop QT, and give the title, but Tarantino fans are inevitably going to be excited by the mere visual confirmation that the film is definitely on its way.

But really, the fact that the Weinstein Company is advertising for a movie that has no available footage as of yet and isn't coming out until late next year just goes to show how lean their slate looks right now. They have to be poised at this point to spend the big bucks to pick up awards contenders.

I knew there was going to be a Hateful Eight teaser but really didn't care about it because like you said it's for a movie without footage. I'll be interested once it films and I can see something legit.

I saw Sin City at 2:05 today. There were 12 of us there in a 323 seat theater.

Trailers: The Guest, Into the Woods, Dracula Untold, Annabelle, No Good Deed, The Drop, Amityville: The Awakening and The Hateful Eight.
