Re: The Expendables 3 over The Expendables 2 Club! That's actually interesting because I also don't think the PG-13 rating will bring in a new audience. I am basing this thread wholly on the fact that the film looks more epic and the action seems to be filmed better. Plus, Stallone said that the film is not ha-ha parody like the second one, but more of a serious actioner with occasional comedic elements, but with more of an emotional angle. I think this type of action movie, plus the fact that it's the end to the trilogy, may push it back over $100m again.

The marketing seems the same as the last two (just showing people standing in a line or individually on a poster). This is a negative.
The Expendables 2, for some reason, seemed well liked. This is a plus.
It is going to be the final Expendables film. This is a plus.
It is not going to be a comedy, and it seems more like a polished actioner with scope. This is a plus.
It is going to be PG-13. This is a negative.

Taking things in the direction away from the better reviewed entry and more in line with the original seems like a curious decision (although it's kind of unsurprising because it's Stallone: a man who has dedicated his life to questionable creative choices). It's also the third film and the novelty has probably worn off for many.

He is co-writer, but the producers and director are surely the ones calling the shots. Stallone is just more of an ambassador to give out the news when it's known.
