Re: Godzilla (2014) INTL
Quote: Warner Bros and Legendary‘s Godzilla roared into the world’s second biggest box office market today with a monstrous $10.9M bow. The Gareth Edwards-directed creature feature is playing on an estimated 9,000 screens, more than a third of the nation’s moviegoing real estate. [b]The bow marks Warner Bros’ biggest opening day of all time in the territory and is the biggest opening day there for 2014, according to the studio. The Lizard opened internationally in May with $103.4M overseas. Its domestic open was $93.1M; in North America it now has a cume of about $187.5M. Internationally, its cume as of last weekend was $208.7M in 63 markets. http://www.deadline.com/2014/06/godzill ... ox-office/Great start, although its terrible legs seem to be a universal thing, so I guess we'll see where it goes from here.

Re: Godzilla (2014) INTL
Big openings are normal in China. But the key to success is legs. Films die very fast here. Within 1 week or 10 days, films are dead and making nothing. This is partially because of the crap release schedule for imported movies that the Government seems to make happen, but also because Chinese have very short attention spans. Something is popular for a very short time. Fans are acquired for a few days at most before the next thing comes along.

Re: Godzilla (2014) INTL
BO.com Quote: Godzilla stomped through China in its opening weekend. The monster movie claimed a $36 million debut in the market en route to a $38 million weekend overeseas. IMAX screenings in China alone brought in over $4.5 million, too close to call to see if Godzilla broke the record for the biggest opening weekend on IMAX -a title currently held by the previous Hobbit film. The giant lizard has now grossed $248.3 million overseas and $440 million worldwide in his (her?) latest film.

Re: Godzilla (2014) INTL
Not helped by the WOM and the fact that Maleficent opened, going from $37m weekend to a $14.5m second weekend is atrocious. It'll be dead by next weekend at this rate.
