 Re: The Amazing Spider-man 2 (INTL) The openings in Brazil, China, and India are impressive. It should easily surpass what ASM did OS and should get past 750 at least WW. It has a great chance at 800.

BTW it got $116m OS this weekend when it has released in all markets (even though just OD in China). It should get another $80m next weekend thanks to China which will get it close to $400m OS. It will get another $100m after that but its far from a lock to beat the original at this point.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is the top film around the world once again after scoring a $69.5 million weekend overseas to bring its running tally outside of North America up to $403 million. The superhero sequel has grossed $550 million worldwide.
IMAX screenings contributed $8 million globally over the weekend, bringing Spidey's IMAX cume up to $38 million worldwide. China has brought in $6.3 million from IMAX after 8 days in release; the Spider-Man sequel continued to thrive in its first full week of release in China with a $25.1 million haul that brings its market cume up to $54 million. With a full week in China that's a big drop from last weekend's $116m tally. It needs another $200m to catch up to original's WW total. Its getting about $50m more from domestic market so it needs another $150m from OS markets. Doable but it looks shaky.

CA2 for instance is at $116m from China but the studios might get like 20% of that. BTW TASM2 is looking to inch past CA2 or both will end up much closer to each other's WW total.

CA2 is at $708m and it should get to $725m. This needs to get another $50m-$60m which doesn't seem possible. I think it can still make another $10m-$15m from China and another $10m-$15m from holdovers with another $20m from domestic total. It would still be an uphill battle to get past CA2. I don't think it has any market left to open even the small ones.
