Re: The Amazing Spider-man 2 (INTL)
The openings in Brazil, China, and India are impressive. It should easily surpass what ASM did OS and should get past 750 at least WW. It has a great chance at 800.

Re: The Amazing Spider-man 2 (INTL)
It will probably surpass the first film overseas, but not easily. I see maybe $520-540 million overseas.

Re: The Amazing Spider-man 2 (INTL)
Isn't that Godzilla releasing later in June in most markets?
BTW it got $116m OS this weekend when it has released in all markets (even though just OD in China). It should get another $80m next weekend thanks to China which will get it close to $400m OS. It will get another $100m after that but its far from a lock to beat the original at this point.

Re: The Amazing Spider-man 2 (INTL)
It's definitely a lock to beat the original at this point, dumbass. Seriously, you are one big moron. In your $100m $200m etc. threads, you list complete hopefuls as being locks for crazy grosses, but you cannot see that TASM2 is a lock to pass $490m.

It is certainly not a lock.

Re: The Amazing Spider-man 2 (INTL)
Quote: he Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits $550 million worldwide.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is the top film around the world once again after scoring a $69.5 million weekend overseas to bring its running tally outside of North America up to $403 million. The superhero sequel has grossed $550 million worldwide.
IMAX screenings contributed $8 million globally over the weekend, bringing Spidey's IMAX cume up to $38 million worldwide. China has brought in $6.3 million from IMAX after 8 days in release; the Spider-Man sequel continued to thrive in its first full week of release in China with a $25.1 million haul that brings its market cume up to $54 million. With a full week in China that's a big drop from last weekend's $116m tally. It needs another $200m to catch up to original's WW total. Its getting about $50m more from domestic market so it needs another $150m from OS markets. Doable but it looks shaky.

It's doing great in China, so it can add another $60m there.

Re: The Amazing Spider-man 2 (INTL)
It's doing fantastic. Out-grossing Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be an ask, but Godzilla and X-Men: Days of Future Past are all-but guaranteed.

Quote: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swung past the $600 million mark worldwide over the weekend. Spidey reached a $633 million global cume following a $31.5 million weekend overseas. The latest Spider-Man sequel has already grossed a total of $461 million overseas. China continues to be the top market for Spider-Man, where it added $13.5 million over its third weekend to continue as the #1 film in the market. Current China total is $80.86m according to BOM.

Re: The Amazing Spider-man 2 (INTL)
Sad story that studios receive a very small percentage of a film's gross in China

Re: The Amazing Spider-man 2 (INTL)
Yes that's true for all the movies releasing in China so having a lower gross there but a huge overall OS total means you make MUCH more. CA2 for instance is at $116m from China but the studios might get like 20% of that. BTW TASM2 is looking to inch past CA2 or both will end up much closer to each other's WW total.

Re: The Amazing Spider-man 2 (INTL)
Quote: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swung past the $675 million global mark this weekend, netting $11.2 million from 92 territories to raise its overseas cume to $489 million. The superhero sequel has grossed $676.1 million worldwide. Top markets for the film include China ($90.4M), the UK ($39.7M), South Korea ($33.7M), Mexico ($28.3), and Japan ($27.5M). CA2 is at $708m and it should get to $725m. This needs to get another $50m-$60m which doesn't seem possible. I think it can still make another $10m-$15m from China and another $10m-$15m from holdovers with another $20m from domestic total. It would still be an uphill battle to get past CA2. I don't think it has any market left to open even the small ones.

Re: The Amazing Spider-man 2 (INTL)
Domestic: $198,386,221 Foreign: $503,305,000 ----------------------- Worldwide: $701,691,221
Its now crossed two milestones of $500m OS and $700m WW though it might still fall short of CA2's $710m WW total.

Re: The Amazing Spider-man 2 (INTL)
So, summer 2014 is interesting. The crown goes to Captain America: The Winter Soldier (domestic), then The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (overseas and worldwide).

CA2 isn't the summer, though.

Re: The Amazing Spider-man 2 (INTL)
It's quite close to the summer and played most of its run in the summer, so it's fine by me.
