That is big number but wasn't that expected from these countries? I mean they are among the big religious following countries.

Like, 90% of the country is Christian. South Korea, though? Even if you ignore that near 50% of the country isn't religious, well over half of those that are do NOT follow a Christian (or even an Abrahamic) religion, and Noah isn't a figure outside of those religions. So not only is South Korea not very religious, most of the part that is doesn't follow a relevant one for this film.

 Re: Noah (INTL)
South Korea has a sizeable Christian community actually. 20-30% of the population is said to be Christian (from different denominations). But yes - its not an overwhelmingly Christian country like Mexico.

It's a blockbuster with Russell Crowe and directed by Aronofsky, people will see it regardless of their religion.

This isn't a film like Passion that is meant to target religious Christians.

 Re: Noah (INTL)
I read a few articles about its early release and they were trying to build good WOM among religious community by releasing in those markets upfront. Regardless it does look like its opening very well and I do understand this movie also appeals outside of the religious fanbase.

Quote: Noah tops the French box office after edging out Rio 2 for the top spot. The Biblical epic finishes the weekend just shy of the $250 million global mark.

Noah edged out Rio 2 for the top spot in France after grossing $3.9 million from 568 sites. The film took a $3.7 million bow from 400 locations in Italy to reach the top spot in the market.
Hold overs performed exceptionally well for Noah this weekend. Brazil led the way with $5.1 milliom from 490 cinemas on it second weekend, a 45% slide from its debut to brings its local cume up to a healthy $17.6 million. The UK earned $2.9 million from 478 sites to reach a $10 million total in the market. Russia posted a $2.3 million take from 819 locations in its third frame to reach a $31.2 million cume. Other top weekend holds include strong showings in Germany ($2.1M Weekend / 520 Screens / $6.1M Cume), Spain ($1.6M Weekend / 334 Screens / $5.5M Cume), and Turkey ($1M Weekend / 240 Screens / $3.6M Cume).
Its WW total is $246,872,000. So $300m is a lock with a good chance of $350m total.

 Re: Noah (INTL)
So, now that it is not being released (banned) in China, Noah will probably not make more than $340m worldwide. It will be the 2nd highest-grossing Russell Crowe vehicle of his career. Not bad really.

Not bad really. It is at $333 million worldwide, coming off a $6.6 milliion weekend and has still Japan and Venezuela to open in. I'm thinking $360 million.

 Re: Noah (INTL)
Oh, I didn't check its remaining markets. I assumed it opened everywhere. I think you are probably correct that it will finish with $350m+ then.

 Re: Noah (INTL)
Quote: Noah was just shy of cooling Frozen's hot streak in Japan, finishing in second place in its debut in the market with a $3.5 million bow from 338 locations. The Japanese premiere lifts Noah to a $251 million overseas total and $352.1 million worldwide cume. So it crosses $350m WW with another $10m coming from Japan it should get to $360m WW which is great for a $125m biblical March movie.
