 Delivery Man Predictions
Vince Vaughn's latest comedy opens via Touchstone on November 22nd, the same day as a small literary adaptation titled The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. It is rated PG-13, so it will not find Vaughn in full-on, macho, profane Swingers/Wedding Crashers mode. It is an American version of the Quebec-made film Starbuck, which generated unspectacular numbers on the art-house circuit last year, but was a triumph in Canada. Both versions are directed by Ken Scott. Vaughn has not headlined a hit in four years. Recent modest performers or outright duds include The Dilemma (48 million), the much troubled The Watch (35 million), and the loudly advertised, but quietly received The Internship, which earned only 44 million earlier this year despite reuniting him with Owen Wilson. So, obviously, this film comes with a bit of a cloud over its head. Predictions? 11/36

 Re: Delivery Man Predictions
On a related note, what are other relatively recent cases of a director redoing his or her own film? The examples which come to my mind:
- George Sluizer directing The Vanishing (1988) and then the very, very poorly received and compromised American version in 1993 - Takashi Shimizu directing the American version of The Grudge and its sequel - the two versions of Funny Games by Michael Haneke

 Re: Delivery Man Predictions
Michael Mann made LA Takedown again and called it Heat. Robert Rodriguez remade Eli Mariachi and called it Desperado. Sam Raimi remade The Evil Dead and called it Evil Dead II. So there are some good remakes out there!

 Re: Delivery Man Predictions
Have you ever watched L.A. Takedown? It is a strange, strange experience, watching scenes which would prove so hypnotic and powerful in Heat played out so tepidly.
Mann's other major made-for-television film, The Jericho Mile, is solid, though, and indicative of his later, greater achievements.

I actually haven't seen it. I hear it's not great, though.

 Re: Delivery Man Predictions
This film has shown rather impressive staying power. Its total will be almost respectable relative to its low budget and people's expectations.
