Re: Thursday Numbers & HOBBIT midnights
It will be more backloaded than the first, but that's still a disappointing number.

Re: Thursday Numbers & HOBBIT midnights
Our KJ thread says H1 did $12.4m in midnights while THR says $13m viewtopic.php?f=12&t=63396

Re: Thursday Numbers & HOBBIT midnights
13 million last year for H1, but I'm not sure if both had the same amount of screenings.
I'm not sure how bad of a sign that is. This probably has less frontloading from the most hardcore LOTR fanatics, who waited 9 years for H1. That most devoted fanbase can affect the midnight numbers significantly.

Re: Thursday Numbers & HOBBIT midnights
not a really good number. But remember films seem less frontloaded over the weekend this year (think IM3, Thor 2, Catching Fire) so a 70 something million opening is still possible.
Also, I swear Hobbit 1 had earlier showings

Re: Thursday Numbers & HOBBIT midnights
Expected. I definitely think this will be more backloaded than the first, though I still expect the OW to come in lower than the first.

Re: Thursday Numbers & HOBBIT midnights
so looks like a little less than 30 million unless it really picks up for the day.

I knew it! "BUT IT HAS A DRAGON!"
With that number, I'm not sure it'll hit 30 million OD. I'm seeing something like 28/ 21/ 15 for a 64 weekend. Could still go less.

Re: Thursday Numbers & HOBBIT midnights
I still think it will go over 70 million. I suspect it will be more backloaded. I would also say lets wait we saw what happened when people jumped to conclusions with Catching Fire.

I think people realized the CF thread was more of a joke, at the end of the day, it was still a 150+ opening, and was going to have a great hold run thanks to Thanksgiving. A 33% drop in audience the rest of the weekend would be 56 million. Now there is backloading, but that much? I think 64-68 seems like the best bet.

Re: Thursday Numbers & HOBBIT midnights
These numbers are pretty much expected. We'll probably get a $75-80 million opening weekend, but WoM will be better overall, good enough for at least a $290 million total.

I don't think it does better than $27m today with that number.

I remember that Friday and saturday, people were calling it disappointing from the friday numbers and the movie was more backloaded than we thought. Again, lets wait until Sunday before we jump disappointing.

Re: Thursday Numbers & HOBBIT midnights
We haven't even seen Friday's numbers yet, so lets wait. People are getting out of hand with jumping the gun with Friday numbers. I wish it was like the old days when we didn't know anything until Saturday.
