Not heard of this one yet. Excel, when you create a club like this, can you maybe spend some time writing an opening post (explaining the movie, its stars, director, and why you think factors are in its favour)? Instead of just rapid-creation of threads. It's lazy.

Oh, I remember this one! It's the Seth MacFarlane western comedy. It's written and directed by him which obviously gets me super excited.

Good things about the movie: Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Seth MacFarlane
Bad things: Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson

Should do well. I'm in.

Showing Blazing Saddles how it's done.

I had to go on BOM to see what this movie was. Maybe, but I'm OUT.

I wish they move it to July since that is so deserted. Still, it looks hilarious, I could see it being a surprise hit, so in.

I am still thinking MAX of $150m for this but the trailer is hilarious. For now I'm out but this could happen.

I mean... Ted had to go against Spider Man, then Ice Age, and then TDKR in it's 2nd/3rd/4th weekends.

Sure, those weren't all DIRECT competition...

I am hoping they move it to July. It could really clean up if they did that and have a chance at making over 200 million.

I'm sure this won't get anywhere near 175m.

If a movie about a talking Teddy bear can make over 200 million this can do at least 150. It looks very funny, has a good cast, and an interesting concept.

The way the schedule currently is, this will be very hard even with a good opening and WOM. 22 Jump Street comes on its 3rd weekend, which will be very direct competition. Even with a 45m OW, it would need some really great WOM to get to 175m with that kind of competition.

Yeah, but that is probably the low-end of its potential opening weekend. Ted was a huge WoM hit and made MacFarlane a name. The trailer is hilarious and I can see Universalpushing the living hell out of it. I am thinking a $55-60 million opening weekend.

I wonder if it can outgross Maleficent which opens on the same weekend, and I do mean overall (but I guess it could do it OW if it opens over 60). I have to say that weekend has huge potential could have three films over 50 million.

This will do good but I am still not sure of $175m. I could see this getting $150m.

- Biggest German movie of all-time is Western spoof DER SCHUH DES MANITU which adjusts to $143m from Germany, Austria & Switzerland...

The reason why a film about a talking Teddy bear made so much because it was about a talking Teddy bear who got into a fight with a duck and Mark Walberg and swears and uses drugs.

I never said it would top it, just it would do at least 150. I think it has a good premise and MacFarlane is pretty hot right now. The crowded schedule hurts it the most. If they could release it in July, it would have better chances of breaking out further.

July would be a much better month for this to breakout, but either way it won't be going anywhere near Ted's numbers. This seems much more internet/fanboy friendly, but then again so did TITE and that grossed $100M+.

I expect a similar finish for this.

Oh yeah... THAT sounds like a $200+ mil movie idea to me!
