what's up with those "special corporate screenings" and walmart ticket purchases? is this a new fraud to inflate the opening weekend? |

Wasn't everyone expecting Pacific Rim to bomb? That seems pretty great for it. |

I'm impressed. After the tracking came out that predicted $25m, even I was ready to accept PR failing, and I've been gung-ho for this movie since day one. I'm amazed at how this movie's potential has bounced back within the last couple of days. Why did demand look so low up until now? |

Considering the tracking for the last few weeks and the super low predictions, this is looking really good. Should be more frontloaded than World War Z, but not sure by how much. I think it could still do $20m today. |

If Pacific Rim can break $40 million, or heck even $50 million, that would make it the third non-sequel this summer that looked destined to flop but somehow survived and thrived. That would be pretty nutty. |

Anything over $40 mil, imo, would be good. Over $50 mil, great. Over $60 mil? Fantastic. |

WOM sounds like it should be good, so a 3.0 multiplier shouldn't be hard with summer weekdays going strong, meaning $40+ million would nearly guarantee it $120 million. Still well below its budget, but hopefully overseas would make up for it. |

Yep if this does well above $45m then I would say this will be one of the biggest surprises of this summer if not THE biggest. |

That is a really surprising number for Pacific Rim. If it actually breaks out that would have to be the story of the summer. This movie was looking like one of the biggest duds ever and with all the grim talk about low tracking/buzz it's good to see it was able to rebound a bit. |

The strong reviews I think really turned things around for it this week. A lot of people were on the fence about it. |

I think it'll be as frontloaded as Prometheus, so a $51m OD seems right. I'm going to pretend that Adam Sandler has the most rabid fanbase of them all, so no more than $6m for GU2. |

Wow. If Pacific Rim does an 18+ OD I will be shocked. Its legs will be interesting, I think it'll plummet next weekend but who knows. |

I told you guys it wasn't going to hit $300m. It's still a good performance. |

Chip, take comfort in the fact MOS2 will make more, if the name I'm hearing for Lex is correct. |

Denzel. And I'm hearing it from a friend at Warner Bros, not fanboy speculation. |
