It's crazy how much Star Trek's disappointment kept us all so busy that no thread for the next weekend has been created.

Anyway...

The Hangover Part III - $74 million (5-day)
Fast & Furious 6 - $104 million (4-day)
Epic - $35 million (4-day)

How about adding a poll about the combined b.o. total of the top 6 movies over the 4 day weekend?

It was odds on to be biggest Memorial Day weekend ever - though now it will have to fight for it.

The Hangover Part III - $67 million (5-day)
Fast & Furious 6 - $93 million (4-day)
Epic - $33 million (4-day)

Everything will look underwhelming a bit. N-quel fatigue is coming.

I think next weekend is on course to become the biggest Memorial weekend ever in nominal term, cruising past $280 million 4-day with ease. But individual openers will look underwhelming.

I agree with this ^.

I'm feeling ALOT of excitement for Fast 6. The marketing is killer and even my mom wants to see it. There seems to be some solid interest in TH3 as well.

Some people will be surprised when The Hangover does underwhelming. Not me ;). Now, I do think legs will be kind of decent. People will probably catch up with it after they've seen Fast & Furious 6. But if people are only going to go to one movie next weekend it will be F & F I'm sure. They are both attracting pretty much the same audience even if they are different genres. There's not room for both to open to around 100 Million each.

I think some people will be surprised when Hangover surpasses these terribly low predictions with ease. ;)

Not gonna happen :P. Maybe if it were the sole big opener next weekend, or at least the sole one targeting this demographic. I don't think many are clamoring for another Hangover movie though and the ads aren't that funny. It's this year's Sex & The City 2 but will perform better than that ;).

Hangover marketing seems stronger than Fast Six. Though that may be here only where Hangover is opening a couple of weeks earlier than Furious.

Since the records usually go for the 3-day weekends, I made the poll about the 3-day weekend only :)

I expect $231-240 million for the Top 6. The weekend has a shot at ending up as the 6th-biggest weekend ever.

You could be right. In comparison to last year - the 3 openers will likely open to a higher total than the entire Top 20 last year...
