Not good for Peeples. But I think everything will be going up.

So the Tyler Perry movie with Craig Robinson and Kerry Washington is the one that flops but the one with Kardashian doesn't? Racists.

17m OD would be a great number...though thought the minimum was 18m after the midnight/early preview numbers.
It still is! :censored:

I'll be quite interested in seeing if Gatsby is indeed frontloaded or not. BTC thinks it'll go up tomorrow by a fair amount, but they also think it'll drop 27% on Mother's Day. :)

Peeples is a huge disappointment, though. I was expecting $7.5m to be around the OD up to the last couple days.

Around here IM3 is ahead of GG but in certain theaters GG is ahead.

Tyler Perry only produced Peeples so I guess that's not enough to his devoted flock of followers, or something.

Also, Kerry Washington's seemingly bland, innocuous role in this film seems like such a departure from her fierce Scandal persona.

I'm keen to see the Cinemascore for Gatsby. People seem to think it'll get toxic WOM but things I've seen on social media seem to be mostly really positive.

Looks accurate. Solid if true, especially with Gatsby over-performing.

Gatsby is no doubt going to be quite frontloaded, with the young female demo, the book fans, the music aspect, and the Baz fanbase.

lol I like Baz but this has to be the lowest factor for its frontloaded weekend.

Good job to release this during MD weekend. All this time I never thought how much appeal this had to women.

IM3: 75+
GG: 40-43

According to Box office.com

The latter the numbers we get the more accurate they will be.

Warner Bros‘ The Great Gatsby (3,035 theaters)_domestic grosses just keep climbing upwards. My sources’ latest estimates for the are $18M-$22M for today including Thursday late shows and Friday midnights, and $$55M-$58M for opening weekend. The ‘X Factor’ will be Mothers Day which could contribute to a huger-than-normal Sunday for the romantic drama co-financed by Village Roadshow. Disney/Marvel’s Iron Man 3 (which still has the biggest theater count of 4,253) is looking like $20M today and $75M-$80M this weekend for a terrific hold on #1 again. And the only other major newcomer today is Lionsgate’s Peeples (2,031 theaters) hich is a ‘Tyler Perry Presents’ comedy not written or directed by him. Its grosses are disastrous: #1M today for a $3.5M-$5M weekend.

Peeples is literally the antithesis to Gatsby it seems. :zonks:

Told ya. Leo is too big of a draw and the book is too famous for it to possibly open under SHUTTER ISLAND.

I think Leo was the draw here, not the book. Many famous stories have opened poorly.
