Disney will be definitely market leader with
- AVENGERS 2
- STAR WARS 7
- PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5
- FINDING DORY
- UNTITLED SUMMER PIXAR
- ANT-MAN and who knows how many more Marvel movies?

In Addition there's
- the HUNGER GAMES finale
- three DreamWorks Animation movies
and plenty of other animated stuff

Plus there's a slight chance of AVATAR 2...

Yes it's going to be a huge year for blockbusters but I don't think we will hit highest admissions mark.

Last year the middle tier movies flopped badly which was one of the reason we didn't get $11b total. If 2015 has strong start and gets enough medium sized hits I'd say $12b will happen other than that I'm not yet sure of that. I mean we will barely reach $10.5b this year so I don't think inflation would be enough to get past $12.5b

I don't think both Pirates and Star Wars will be coming out in 2015. Either Star Wars will get pushed back because of Abrams or they will push Pirates back.

Avatar 2 won't be getting made for at least another 5 years.

Fresh from CinemaCon:

SW7 will indeed be released in the summer of 2015...

I still think Pirates will get moved. It has no director and only Depp and Rush attached.

SW every year is a bit too much IMO. I know the first few will be big but they will eventually dilute the franchise if they have an entry year (including standalone movies) for say 5-6 years.

Look at how we have marvel films every year, people dont seem to be tired of them.

SW franchise has a hardcore fan base as marvel does, so long live SW.

The difference is that Marvel movies started as standalone and then the build up made them a team. We've already had 6 movies and 7th will also be released before a standalone movie will come for SW. I think that setup is a big factor. I believe SW will do great for a few movies but after that the returns will start diminishing and its not as sure to get all the old audience back.

We had LORD OF THE RINGS movies every year, we had 8 HARRY POTTER movies in 11 years - if I remember correctly, they all did just fine...

Hmm that is also true but both of them didn't have standalone movies maybe it won't feel as bad if there are just 5 movies but I would rather than a year or two gap between each movies.

- AVENGERS 2
- STAR WARS 7
- PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5
- FINDING DORY

Disney is not playing, all of these could do over 1 billion.

2015 will crush 2002's ticket sales record if the studious don't wimp out make move films to 2016.

I'm sure one or two films will be moved

Yeah I think Pirates will get moved. It is the one the farthest behind.

Records will be smashed.

I think TA 2 will smash the opening day record and the opening weekend record.

It could happen, now that both IM3 and Thor 2 look like to be better films than their previous installments based on trailers

People will run to see TA2 if phase 2 is filled with good quality movies

Now that Disney has set its animation slate until 2018, including two Pixar & one Disney movie in 2016, we can assume that FINDING DORY will definitely be released in 2015...

Maybe one of those dates is reserved for DORY?

Two Pixar films in a year sounds unlikely.

Because we all know when a movie smashes an opening weekend record, the sequel always tops it!

Sounds unlikely because they have shifted schedules of their films in the past, but I guess this will be the first time ever we'll see 2 films in a year, proof of it is 2017, where 2 pixar films are already scheduled

So far we have:

2013: JUNE/Monsters U
2014: MAY/The Good Dinosaur
2015: JUNE/Inside Out
2015: NOV/Finding Dory
2016: JUNE/Dia de los Muertos
2017: JUNE/??????
2017: NOV/??????
2018: JUNE/?????

I bet one of those will be The Incredibles 2 and maybe a third part of Monsters or Cars 3

Um if IM3 opened to 174 million based of TA good then.

Its not a lock because nothing will likely beat TA opening weekend till 2015, but TDKR even with a depressed opening outopened TDK in dollar terms.

With Inflation and more Imax this time, I think TA2 will likely break the weekend record.

I think everyone will be watching for this film for sure especially opening weekend, I still see a small decline domestically in the end for the grand total.
