This should have a sizable increase overseas. I see at least $260-300 million OS.

The worst poster campaign I've ever seen has been with this movie. Just no poster is good at all.

I don't think they're terrible, just beyond mediocre, sad I was hoping for better advertising.

From 126m to 400m+? Good luck with that...

I hope so.

Dude: 3D + grown markets (four years have passed) + the terrific reception for the first film.

I hinestly think that $400 million is lowballing.

If Trek 2 makes $500m DOM, then your $400m+ OS might very well come true.

Star Trek 2 is getting a lot of sneaks in Asian territories this weekend. I'm not sure if this extends to Europe.

How about this:

Twilight - $199 million overseas
New Moon - $413 million overseas

And New Moon did not make $500 million domestically.

Ice Age - $206 million overseas
Ice Age 2 - $460 million overseas

Domestuically Ice Age increased from $176 million to $195 million

Fast & Furious - $208 million
Fast Five - $416 million

Pirates of the Caribbean - $348 million
Pirates of the Caribbean 2 - $643 million

Need more examples? Does it look that unlikely?

Lecter, believe me, I wish from the bottom of my heart that you're right.
But I heard that the weather forecast for the UK says nice weather, same in Germany. And those two are the most important markets...

Yes. Coz those examples had a growth rate of about 2x. You are predicting Trek 2 to make at least 3.2x as much.

None of those had 3D, though.

I'm actually thinking "only" $350m right now, but I'd love to see it get a lot higher.

With 3D most any franchise has the potential to triple its international take, 3D is not going to die out in the international markets.

Even if you add 20% to those figures, it's not close to 3x the growth.

20% is closer to the average addition in gross in the U.S. brought on from 3D, the effect is far greater internationally probably 40% (65% 3D share)-55% (75%+3D share) more cash in the corporate safe yo.

Well, for one, the 3D premium is on gneral more than 30%.

For another, markets like China, Brazil and Russia have hugely developed since then. Star Trek made $1.9 million in Brazil. It made $8.6 million in China. It made $4.1 million in Russia. I am pretty sure it will OPEN with well more than that in all of these markets.
