Texas Chainsaw gets one and a half screens here. One will show it in 3-D over the course of the entire day. It will play in 2-D in the afternoon and evening on another screen, one shared with two morning showings of Rise of the Guardians.

The Impossible, Not Fade Away, and Promised Land each get one screen with five showtimes apiece.

Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away, The Guilt Trip, Hyde Park on Hudson, and Monsters, Inc. drop down to a limited number of showtimes per day.

Anna Karenina is leaving here on Friday, so I plan to see it one more time tomorrow afternoon.

Tomorrow night at 9:30 will be the last time a Twilight film plays at my local theatre.

Bit melancholy, honestly. ;)

I have always wondered if hardcore fans pay attention to this. Everyone focuses on midnight showings at first, obviously, but is there also a smaller legion of Batman/Harry Potter/Twilight/X-Men/etc. fans who are there for a film's last showing at any given theatre. To say goodbye and such, right?

We have 3 3D showings daily for TCM and 2 2D.

Promised Land has 4 showings per-day.

Skyfall will be down to 1 showing, Breaking Dawn will be down to 2, Cirque is down to 2.

The Guilt Trip is being hit hard in terms of number of showtimes.

It's still showing all day here as of this weekend.

Most theatres around here are dropping it down to two or three showings per day.

I am so pissed about TCM only being in 3D here. I'm so tired of the format, and I'm sure the 3D sucks anyway. Add that Movie Pass doesn't let you see 3D movies (though I have some free passes and gift cards, thank god or I wouldn't bother with it).

It was shot in 3-D...

Though certain theatres just project 3-D poorly. I saw Dredd for the second time at a dump of a theatre near College Park, and the 3-D was godawful. And I know the film has strong, dynamic 3-D because I saw it projected nicely on an XD screen the first time.

I'm just not a fan of the format, unless it is a MUST SEE in 3D (like Life of Pi) I think it's a total waste of money and time.

This might be a 3-D must-see, though. ;) Obviously it is what it is, and it is not Life of Pi, but still. Drive Angry certainly was a must-see in 3-D if you were interested in the first place.

I don't care if this was shot in 3D. The film looks cheap and I'd rather just see it in 2D.

It is going to seem a whole lot cheaper in 2-D. ;)

10:00pm showing of Django Unchained - Sold Out

Audience ate this up. They found numerous scenes hilarious, and the right scenes intense. Yeah, this movie is quite beloved.

Texas Chainsaw's 3D is pretty awful.

Let me guess: lots of shots of chainsaws protruding from the screen into your face.

A couple. And blood hits the camera.

But more than that, there just isn't any depth. It's the same camera system they used for Saw 3D and My Bloody Valentine, and it just doesn't create a very good image. The only shots with depth are when something protrudes right out at you. Every other shot looks like 2D with strobing.

Did you like the movie?

Reviews are actually surprisingly decent compared to what I expected (7 Fresh and 8 Rotten on Rotten Tomatoes). At least so far. And Dustin Putman liked it, and I usually agree with him.

The biggest annoyance for me is that it takes place in the present but the main girl is supposed to be the baby from the original? She'd be around 38. Not sure how they could ignore such a plothole.

Hm, doesn't seem very good for TXC3D to be behind two movies that have been out for a week and a half and a movie in only 60 theaters.

Does genre impact online sales in any way? Has anyone ever noticed such a trend? For example, is the type of audience planning to see Les Misérables on a Friday night more prone to buy tickets in advance than the people seeing Texas Chainsaw?

I was thinking that, BUT it's above The Hobbit, which should pull in another 20+ this weekend, so it might not be that bad.
