Pi and Lincoln did great. Great over-performances by all movies, even RotG seems to have managed good numbers from the Wednesday start.

RotG's number is good but one cannot say it is a great number. It can still recover ofcourse with holidays and no competition, still the opening limits it total to $120m-$150m and even for that it needs really good legs.

3D could very well be the reason for RotG failing hope they find see this and move it into more 2D screens.

Just amazing for Skyfall. $300m is a given at this point.

If Life of Pi mimics Hugo, it'll get close to 150m. Probably won't get that high, but 125m+ is doable. May be able to top Hulk03 132m to be Ang Lee's biggest film domestically.

It doesn't have the space for theater expansion as Hugo did the following two weeks, so the drops will be bigger.

Yes but it still has two more weekends by the time Hobbit comes it should easily be more than $270m.

I wouldn't say given just yet. I'm a bit worried how it'll drop against Hobbit.

Even with just a 3.0 multiplier from this weekend it'll be at $297 million. Though next weekend and The Hobbit's OW will give it harsh drops, the weekend in between is pretty much a freebie weekend, and it should still be at a number of multiplexes over Xmas/New Years. It'll get close enough that Sony will push it.

Speaking of Sony, Skyfall will pass Men in Black ($250.7 million) sometime in the next couple weeks to become Sony's biggest non-Spider-Man movie of all time. Pretty crazy.

Yeah, considering how heavily the 3D for it was pushed, I'm curious to see how it performed 3D/2D-wise.

Such an awesome Thanksgiving weekend. I believe the last time 5 movies did over $20M was June 2004.

Twilight did the expected, but Skyfall really held its own. Lincoln is having a Blind Side-esque run, simply incredible.

OK for Rise of the Guardians but it's among the least noteworthy performers of the weekend. Very terrific for Life of Pi considering it's a tough sell.

Considering how long it's been gathering dust on the shelf, that's also an admirable showing for Red Dawn.

Strong holds for Wreck-It Ralph, Flight and Argo. Ralph looks headed for $180M, Flight could still make it to $100M with the proper push, and Argo may still have more life when the Oscar noms are announced.

I'm very pleased with Silver Linings Playbook's expansion. That PTA of $12,600 is a very good hold considering the numbers of theaters it expanded to and the competition. The Weinsteins' decision to switch to a platform release is looking better every day.

Moderate for Hitchcock and Rust and Bone.

Yeah it's a bestseller but that doesn't always translate into ticket sales.

Anna Karenina expanded very nicely.

At least the average for The Perks of Being a Wallflower increased. $1,595 vs. the previous weekend's $1,145.

You don't even have to go back very far for an example: Cloud Atlas

After its impressive showing this weekend I wonder how many theaters they'll add for Silver Linings next weekend.

Can the Weinstein Company afford to release a film in 2,000+ theatres while also expanding another by hundreds of theatres?

They might add just 100-200 theaters to SLP, then go wide the weekend after when Playing for Keeps is the only other wide release (And also right before the Globes announce their nominations).

That's probably what will happen, especially since adding a ton of theaters over a traditionally weak weekend (post Thanksgiving) doesn't make much sense.
