Awful for Rise of the Guardians?

Yeah, that's not all that good for Rise of the Guardians. Looks like Lincoln is continuing to post huge numbers, though, and Life of Pi seems to be doing well.

I don't really understand why she's labeling Silver Linings as weak. If it does her projected 3-day number, it would exceed a $10,000 PTA. Maybe my expectations just aren't as high as some people's. lol

Agreed. This number would be amazing for Silver Linings. So amazing, in fact, I don't believe it.

Whoa at Red Dawn.

That'd be outfuckingstanding for Bond and great for Lincoln.

And considering I've barely seen any advertising for Life of Pi (a couple of commercials off and on, but they'd be easy to miss) that number would be pretty good for it too.

Then again Nikki doesn't seem to know a damn thing about how numbers work, so I'll take this with a grain of salt.

If the Red Dawn number is true, congratulations to Mike.

I feel like these numbers are probably even more off than usual. Nikki hitting the booze early pre Thanksgiving.

But yeah, Red Dawn also did very very well if these hold up.

If Silver Lining has the same multiplier as 127 Hours 2 years ago, it will make around $4.5 mil 5-day. Very close to Nikki's guestimate.

Red Dawn did surprise as predicted. :disgust:

Some really shaky numbers. BD2 just ok. Skyfall outstanding. Poor for Guardians. Great for Lincoln. Good/Great for Pi. Can't understand Red Dawn :noway: Amazing for SLP

BTW does Nikki even knows math? BD2 with a $63.2m 5-day will be at $227m :funny:

Guardians pulls a Kung Fu Panda 2! Was way off on this weekend but glad to see Skyfall (might be) doing so well.

She made the same mistake last week too. Doesn't she at least have an editor?

Thanks. :)

My prediction for Guardians was pretty dead-on too if this is accurate. I predicted 24.16 (3-Day)/32.617 (5-Day).

And that is impressive for Silver Linings. I hope it's true.

What went "wrong" with Rise of the Guardians? Too action oriented and serious? Mediocre final ad push?

I think it looked too dark for kids, the animation didn't look appealing, and who the hell wants to see mythical fairy creatures kicking ass?

I think they were crazy not to do 2,500 theaters for Lincoln this week.

I agree about the animation. That's a big reason I was predicting it to under-perform. It just didn't look that audience friendly. Not enough to be a really big hit.

Don't get Red Dawn. The trailer I saw doesn't even say who is invading. I guess its audience doesn't care about that detail.

Guardians didn't really look that good, but surely St. Nick will bring in more over the 5 day. The title is problematic - it needed to sound more like what it is.

Tremendous #'s overall if true.

Really excited about that number for Silver Linings after last weekend's disappointing start. This would be really great for it.

Flight is doing poor given the reviews and Cinemascore. Hope they holidays help it get past $100m.

These numbers are just guesses. We could have all made guesses like that, but because she owns an industry-loved site, you all seem to take her numbers as gospel. And don't say that you don't, because you created a bloody thread for it.
