Obviously, put a royal gown on him, crazy hair, and a beard, and he could pull it off. It really just depends how they do it. More tragic, weakened warrior's last battle could be great. Also depends a great deal on how Last Stand and The Tomb do. No matter what, it'll outgross the remake.

Even still, can't see much more than a 30/75 kind of scenario, and that's if it looks amazing.

I liked Momoa's Conan, I just hated how the movie was directed. I put all the blame on the director.for that one.

Agreed, that if it's a final battle kind of thing, it might work with Arnold. However, can he even pull that off at his age? I'm just not sure.

A lot depends on how it's rated and how mature/graphic it's going to be. Nobody wants to watch a PG-13 Conan movie. I can see, if it's lame, as low as $5m opening, with a total of about $9m. If it's half-decent, I think people will love it, and I can see a total of about $60m. No more than that, though.

So much depends on which direction they go. What they don't need is some flashy new director to come in and give it a rock star soundtrack with scenes that lack any emotion completely. It needs to be composed, thought out, and in the vein of Conan the Barbarian (1982).

I agree. On a conscious level or not, I believe even general moviegoers will be able to sense whether this is produced with a certain John Milius style crazy integrity, with a real respect for the character's history, or just perfunctorily assembled by a mercenary music-video veteran poached by Lionsgate.

And I want to be a contestant on Double Dare. The only problem is that it's not 1987.

I think a Conan film could work where he isn't the main focal point, but could still do a little action. Anything more and I think it'd look rather foolish. But do Schwarzenegger fans really want a film with him not at the forefront? I don't think so, but I think that's most likely what they're going to get.

Schwarzenegger fans still exist, and it's a niche that deserves to be supplied. You know, it's not compulsory for every film to have fanbases as big as Twilight to get a film made.

It's called The Legend of Conan, and it's working title is King Conan.....yeah, he's going to be at the forefront.

I didn't say they didn't. What I was trying to imply is that they want the impossible. They want the Conan from their childhood.

That isn't going to happen and ultimately the film will probably fail as a result.

I don't think they do want that Conan. The film may fail, but not for that reason. Fans of Schwarzenegger are excited for an old Conan, where he's King and doesn't fight as much and isn't so pumped, because they like his character and want to know how it ended for him.

People haven't seen Schwarzenegger films for 10 years. They want Conan, in any form. Last years' disappointment just made this more in demand.

It's not in such high demand in terms of the general population, but in terms of film fans, and more importantly, Schwarzenegger and action movie fans, it is. The people that have wanted another Arnie Conan movie, they want one even more now that Arnie is eligible and since that abomination last year.
