20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios announced a deal today to bring the beloved Peanuts gang back to the big screen in time for the 65th anniversary of Charlie Brown's comic strip debut.

The studio had been in talks with the estate of the late Peanuts creator Charles Schulz for two years to land the rights to make the film. The untitled animated movie will be released November 25, 2015.

When was Charie Brown last on the big screen? I thought they only did TV specials?

Part of me is really worried if they do 3D animation than it'll lose its sentimental touch. However, if they go 2D animation on this, then this has the potential of being HUGE!

Bon Voyage Charlie Brown (1980) was the last theatrical film. The other films were A Boy Named Charlie Brown, Snoopy Come Home, and Race for your Life Charlie Brown.

this seems like a nice move. Maybe $100m+ if it looks really good.

Even the Peanuts comic strip itself wasn't funny or profound for the last 25 years of it's existence - - it peaked in the late 60's / early 70's and coasted on reputation ever afterwards.

I agree with Magnus - - it's the same type of grave-robbing and will only sell to undiscerning nostalgia victims.
