Um, one could argue the last two points, but Chan is 6 cm taller than Jet Li.

Re: The Expendables 3 Predictions
They are both on the short side.
The age difference between them is smaller than between Stallone and Van Damme, so I have no issue seeing a good fight staged between the two. Sure, Chan is a bit rusty and his body is a bit broken by now, but that's what movie magic is for.
Also, Chan said in an interview that if he did EX3, he wouldn't do a cameo, he wanted a well-sized role.

Re: The Expendables 3 Predictions
Chan's a joker. Li is a fighter. I just don't want to see a fight between the two. Now, if it were Donnie Yen and Jet Li we were talking about, I'd be game. Chan could still be there, but not in the main fight between the fighters. Especially if John Woo directs it, it is likely that all three are present because he will film it in China. Chan could have a gunfight with Chow Yun Fat (another awesome villain idea).

I don't think John Woo will make this.

Re: The Expendables 3 Predictions
He says a lot of things, but for years it didn't seem like he was very keen to do a Hollywood project and I am not sure he'd be given entirely free reigns as he wants to.

Re: The Expendables 3 Predictions
Given the decreasing quality of this franchise, I think it would be a stupid idea for them not to hire John Woo and give him the power to do as he pleases. Simon West fucked up the second movie, so as I see it, only Stallone and Woo can do it any justice now. Plus, Woo fits the "old school" theme of these movies.

I'd love Woo to make this one. I feel these are the kind of projects which Woo can do very well.

Re: The Expendables 3 Predictions
After Bullet, Last Stand, Parker, and Die Hard, I'm sure they're looking for bigger rather than smaller names.
The Rock, while he doesn't quite belong in this franchise, would be perfect in that he now has the reputation as the savior of franchises.

If they get The Rock, this will make $100+ million again.

Re: The Expendables 3 Predictions
I've said this before, but it would be really fucking stupid if they didn't go after The Rock or Vin Diesel, especially since both will be coming off of Fast and Furious 6. They should atleast go after Rock, but it's not like Vin is doing much of anything else these days either.

Re: The Expendables 3 Predictions
Vin might be more apt to do it as The Rock has a lot busier of a career and may not be available to do it. Other than the Riddick sequel which is now filming.

Re: The Expendables 3 Predictions
Yeah, Vin might be more realistic. But either would work, IMO. They certainly have to go after a name that interests the audience that isn't already interested in a reunion of old action stars.

Vin Diesel does not suit the Expendables mould. The Rock does.

I think Vin Diesel would be good though it would be interesting to see him like a bad-guy henchman rather than a teammate.

Re: The Expendables 3 Predictions
For Christ's sake they just need to cast a proper villain, someone of formidable power instead of pussies with no force behind them. Eric Roberts and Stone Cold Steve Austin versus the entire Expendables cast is no match. It was slightly improved upon with Van Damme and Scott Adkins, but again, it's still only two people of mid-level fame.
The villains need to be big names, and there needs to be more than 4 (so as to contend with the heroes).
It's not rocket science.

Re: The Expendables 3 Predictions
That would be too many villains, then it would just be set ups for random fights. It's more about the endless supplies of henchmen they can blow away, then one or two big fights at the end. 2 got it right, it was so much better than the first in that way.
Sizemore would be lame and too much like Roberts. The problem with Seagal is that he is so bad at action now, and already hammed up the villain Machete.. Van Damme at least is still in shape, Seagal just slugs around. After that there isn't much left. I think Snipes coming back from prison and being cast as the villain would be cool. Then a main henchmen that is well known and really huge would be great too. I'd much rather see someone like The Rock as a villain rather than another expendable.

It's not rocket science. I am liking my anti-Expendables villain team idea. I'm digging it too, but they need to pick the right actors for this to really work. I like Tom Sizemore, but he is such a wrong choice for this. If they are trying to bring in a bigger audience they need some serious star power this time. The idea of Snipes as the main villain is pretty cool, but I also dig the idea of having Vin as one of the lead henchman. I always thought of Riddick as somewhat of a anti-hero and especially after Pitch Black, I know Diesel can definitely bring enough creepiness and grit to a darker character, while also making him a complete badass to boot. I'm all for The Rock playing a villain aswell, but so many people hated his turn in Doom that it probably wouldn't' be a wise decision. They are just better off keeping him as one of the good guys. Hell I love the idea of having someone like Neeson, Travolta or even Cage as one of the top BOSS bad guys and just make Snipes, Diesel, Chan etc.. as the members of the anti-Expendables team. That would be going in the right direction IMO.
