Easily the last BIG movie of the summer. The first one was a real crowd pleaser and dvd sales were solid, so it definitely built up a healthy fanbase. I expect this one to be even bigger and possibly open to $40M+. Not only are we getting Bruce and Arnie in more expanded roles, but the presence of Chuck Norris and Van Damme should push it even further and make this a true EVENT film for the action fans who made the first movie such a big hit. The buzz seems to be growing and it doesn't hurt that it has a confirmed R-rating. If Bourne and Total Recall really underperform I honestly wouldn't be suprised by an opening closer to $50M. I'll stay conservative for now though.

40/110

Total Recall will certainly flop while Bourne will open less than half of Ultimatum.

Expendables 2 could crack the $40M mark OW. Like Dil said, it's the last big movie out for a while.

I definately see a drop from the last film because its like a novelty based on the cast akin from Oceans 11 to Oceans 12. It will be also interesting to see how much Avengers 2 total gross retains against its original Bigger opening but much bigger drop

Actual substantial roles for Arnold and Bruce, plus the addition of JCVD and Norris, will help soften the blow of the novelty being gone, in my opinion.

Ocean's Twelve is one of the most unusual major studio movies of the last ten years. It may have topped Eleven if it were another simple, super crowd-pleasing caper.
