Screen Counts and Crowd Reports (June 29-July 1)
Cover me with kisses, baby Cover me with love Roll me in designer sheets I'll never get enough Emotions come, I don't know why Cover up love's alibi
Call me on the line Call me, call me any any time Call me, oh, my love When you're ready, we can share the wine Call me
Ooh, he speaks the languages of love Ooh amore, chiamami (chiamami) Ooh appelle-moi, mon cherie (appelle-moi) Any time, any place, anywhere, anyway Any time, any place, anywhere, any day, anyway

Magic Mike and Ted get two screens here. People Like Us gets one. Predictable across the board. Is anyone's multiplex showing Magic Mike or Ted on more than two screens?
Safety Not Guaranteed gets dropped to one afternoon showtime here. Sharing a screen with Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.

Saw Brave today at 1:30 PM. The biggest theater (316 seats) Hardly any empty seats (very surprising for a Tuesday Morning). The audience applauded at the end.

At most theaters, I saw that Magic Mike is only playing on 1 screen and some only on 2 screens. Why did they underbook it? What's weird is that it's #1 on fandango top sellers (resembling 36% of the sales) but not playing more than 2 screens for the theaters I searched for. Hopefully, it's a false alarm and that theater owners will put more screens for MM so everyone who is interested will be able to see it.

Yeah, I'm seeing 1 screen for Magic Mike at a lot of theaters here too. That may prevent it from really breaking out.

That depends on your definition of "breaking out." 1 screen for the majority theaters is enough for it to break $35m if the demand is there.
Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports (June 29-July 1)
Many theaters can also interlock if necessary.

If demand is really high can't they just add a screen?
Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports (June 29-July 1)
Friday is going to be such a fun day to track movies. Eventhough early numbers won't mean shit since both MM and Ted will be MAJOR date night/late night flicks.

A $50m opening would be a crazy, crazy difference from tracking. Perhaps the biggest that we've seen, percentage-wise?

It's starting to remind me of Bridesmaids (MTC: 11, RS: mid-teen). The female audience could be underestimated by tracking big time here again.

Oooh, interesting. I think it opened to $26m, so 26/11 = 2.36 * $19m (Magic Mike's MTC) = $44.9m. If it followed the same pattern.

A HUGE OD is definitely in store for it, but I wonder just how frontloaded it will be.
I believe I predicted an OD a hair over 13 Million, and I'm starting to feel that could be underestimating it. I could definitely see a high teens Friday.

The Arclight Cinedome is almost sold out for the 8:30 Magic Mike on Friday
Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports (June 29-July 1)
It is going to be so much fun seeing this movie in a crowded theater.

Magic Mike seems like a good movie to bet money on for this weekend at Intertops.

I'm just nervous with my theater only having it on one screen that it will sell out . Hopefully they'll add more showtimes. They better. Could you imagine all of those groups of angry women who showed up to see it only to have it be sold out? I think my friends and I are seeing a matinee of it so our luck should be better than if we went at night.

My one concern with Twitter numbers for this film is it's the type of movie I would expect to generate enormous online conversation and debate, including input by many people who won't see the movie in theatres.
I still feel more comfortable in the 35-40 million range versus higher numbers.
