Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Predicts
I think it has a possibility for the highest 5day total ever to pass Sith. I think its good for around 175 million, and 370+ here and another 500 million overseas. I think there is an outside chance to pass Jurassic Park to become Spielberg's highest grossing film. The lack of competition and a good chance at the Hulk really flopping is all Indy's favor. It just needs to be good.

It just needs to be good. It's legs are hard to determine. While the lack of competition very well opens the gates for good legs, the fact that its a mega-hyped sequel and its opening on Memorial Day kind of negate the lack of competition. In the end, its legs are going to be determine by its WOM, which I think will be good but not great. And no way it beats Siths record. No way. While its not as hyped as Sith obviously the fact that this is also being viewed as the number one pick for the mjority of audiences for the summer. It has an extra day in Thursday, and it has the big advantage of a level Sunday and the biggest holiday Monday, which could very well put it in its realm. Though Im also in the spectrum if it doesnt make it its no way a disappointment. I feel that as long as Indy passes 150 for the 5 day, it will clean up the summer.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Predicts
$38 million Opening Day $30.5 million Friday (-20%-ish) $91.5 million Friday-Sunday $111.5 million Memorial Day weekend $149.5 million 5-day $330 million Domestic Total
Huge opening, decent legs. The total should be enough to win the year. I'd definitely say it's enough to win the summer.

I wil be shocked if it doesnt break siths 5 day record, though its thurs-sun totals will be down from sith's.
Fridays gross will be Thursdays without midnight screenings.

Fri-Sun: 104 Fri-Mon: 130 5 day: 174 new record

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Predicts
I see this having legs actually. I'm getting a Phantom Menace sense, where it actually had legs because it was an event that everyone needed to see, despite being a bad film. Older audiences hadn't seen a SW film since 1983 (16 years earlier), while with IJ4 older audiences will not have seen an IJ film since 1989 (19 years). It will have a big opening, but legs as well as there's alot of nostalgia on this one. It won't approach Phantom Menace levels as SW was always bigger than the IJ franchise. But with inflation, it should do very, very well.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Predicts
I'd say its legs will be much more similar to those of Revenge of the Sith and Attack of the Clones than to those of Phantom. We are in 2008. It is reality that huge, hyped films are frontloaded.
With that said, I doubt it'll be as frontloaded as Spider-Man 3 or PotC3.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Predicts
I'd feel much more confident in this if it was opening May 16th instead of Memorial Day Weekend. The week before Memorial Day Weekend, the first two weekends of July, and last two weekends in DEC before Christmas are in my opinion the best weekends to open blockbusters (or potential blockbusters). Yes, a little obvious, but these weekends allow for the huge opening AND legs. Like Narnia this year. It will get it's big opening and it's legs because of the weekend it's opening on. As long as it's not terrible of course.

I agree that it should have been the week before, but Narnia was there first so its not like it would move if Indy went there.

Psh, any weekend other than Memorial Day would be a shame for Indiana Jones.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Predicts
OW: 90 / 135 / 150
2nd Wkd: 45
3rd Wkd: 25
4th Wkd: 15
5th Wkd: 10
Total: 330-335m
Gonna win the year by about 30m over HP6.
hype for this is huge. and by huge i mean massive. Kids I know who seem like the least likely match for a 1960s adventure film are telling me how cool they think it's gonna be. And the best part is, they aren't even the target audience.

I think most are over-predicting this: my gut tells me that it'll be around 250 domestic. Good opening, meh legs.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Predicts
Not sure if this matters to anyone, but the film is now completely finished and being shipped to people in 7 reels at 20 minutes each. So the film is at least 2 hours long. Yay.
With Credits:
Raiders- 115 minutes Temple- 118 minutes Last Crusade- 127 minutes Crystal Skull- 140 minutes?

Can't see it do under $250 million, but I honestly don't know what it'll add up to. 80/110/305...something like Attack of the Clones.
