21% drop for Mirror Mirror. Not bad!

30.3% drop for Hunger Games. Solid hold as well.

Very poor for AR.

Looks like we're slipping back into the slump for a couple weekends.

Call me a pesimist but I expected Mirror Mirror to have a harsh drop this weekend. That's amazing.

Its interesting that Good Friday seemed to be more lenianent on the holdovers then the openers combined. Still this is a pretty shitty weekend. Both American Reunion and Titanic came WAY under expectations. I never expected sub $25M for AR eventhough the marketing did kind of suck. There just didn't seem to be much buzz for it and I bet 21 Jump Street being such a big breakout affected it in some way. As for Titanic what the hell happend ? This thing seemed to get more media exposure than any of the 3D re-releases we have had so far. Also we can't forget about that bullshit tracking from a few weeks ago. Oh well it looks like we have finally hit a slump in 2012.

Will be a pretty solid Easter weekend overall, even if American Reunion and Titanic 3D were unable to parlay nostalgia into box office breakouts (they both performed solidly, regardless).

This is not a shitty weekend, you guys. You can't expect every single weekend of the year to be like that one weekend in February or shaken up by the presence of a monster like Hunger Games.

Great holds for The Hunger Games and Mirror Mirror.

I agree that is an amazing hold. I too thought MM will drop harder.

THG will make have a 30M+ weekend which is great. ( It would need more than 10% drop on Saturday and more than 47% drop on Sunday to not pass 30M with 13M friday )

Mirror Mirror will drop harder, it's going to drop tomorrow.

It's Good Friday, of course it scored a good day. Hunger Games more impressive of course.

It will still have a big drop, cause it will drop today and get sliced by half tomorrow. Good Friday inflates the numbers, therefore, the drops are misleading.

Ehh Mirror Mirror may have a small bump up today given its a family film..

How To Train Your Dragon increased 0.5%, Alice in Wonderland 4.4% when Easter fell on this same weekend two years ago.

That's a great hold for Wrath as well. Looks like it can avoid a 50% drop.

Titanic and AR ate into each other, should have released one a different week. Both could have been a 30+ opener on their own.

I would be happy to see increases across the board today.

Uh...no. It needs a 16.72m weekend to stay under 50%. With a 5.425m Friday, 15.5m is best-case scenario over the holiday weekend.

I thought a 3+ multiplier over easter was common. Its not like people make a day out of it.

Its not common. Most films decrease on Saturday or have very small (single-digit) increases.

What people arent getting is that yesterday was a HOLIDAY to most. A lot of people are off on Good Friday.

BJ never forgets a daily pattern, still hoping for increases across the board

Wrath should have a worse IM this weekend than the last one, so yeah, it's not a good hold, although expected.

According to MCN the Indian HOUSEFULL 2 cracked the Top Ten with $0.25m...

Post subject:  Re: Friday numbers (ERC/BO.com)

^ That's because of Good Friday. As in general with Indian movies it will be frontloaded, I don't expect it to end up Top 10 over the weekend.
