Decent to good for Wrath. Not great for Mirror.

Usually her Saturday numbers are pretty spot on, so I wouldn't expect big changes.

EDIT: BTW someone mentioned March Madness could affect BO this weekend. What is March Madness? Is it on Saturday or Sunday? Did it have any effect on BO in the past?

NCAA basketball tournament it may have had an affect, but nothing major.

That would be great for THG, good for Wrath and not so good for MM.

Thanks. I thought it was something bigger.

21 Jump Street didn't actually do that great on Saturday as it did on Friday.

21 Jump Street's excellent WOM is definitely kicking in. It will cross $100m next weekend. The real question is could it beat Tatum's own surprise hit from this year, The Vow? It's a real great chance even with American Reunion coming out.

^ Agreed if that number holds Wrath would have 14% increase without midnights. Good for a frontloaded franchise like this.

ERC has twitted this
Quote:
Crash of the titans! WRATH OF THE TITANS finished #2 with $34.2 mil--just over half of what the original debuted with.

and this

Quote:
Relativity's MIRROR MIRROR finished third with a modest $19 mil.

BOG has THG numbers

Quote:
#HungerGames falls 60% to $61.1M in 2nd wknd, $251M in 10 days. Fastest non-sequel ever to break quarter-bil.

^ If that $61.1m number is true then that Saturday number would have gone down from $26.2m

Post subject:  Re: Saturday/Weekend Estimates (Nikki)

And they are probably expecting a bigger drop on Sunday. Maybe they careful after they overestimated $2.5M last week.

:funny: Well Nikki's IM's are not always correct, I wanted to give a $23m-$24m Saturday figure but then decided against it...should have thought better.

B+ CinemaScore for Wrath of the Titans, compared to a B for Clash.

Can't seem to find one for Mirror Mirror...

They (Relativity) should have slightly altered their ad campaign for Mirror Mirror. They made it seem SO childish, which I assume alienated groups of older women and other moviegoers who might have given it a whirl based on Roberts and the general premise.

Wrath is headed for a 75m-85m total which would equate to about a 50% drop from Clash, then we just had Ghost Rider 2 drop 55% from the original. This all makes me wonder about the fate of these sequels to mediocrely received films for the rest of the year. Personally, I am the least worried about G.I.Joe 2 while I see both MIB3 and Skyfall definitely dropping from their predecessors but perhaps not quite as much as Wrath and GR2.

Skyfall is a different beast, IMO. Bond is an institution.

It is, but at some points the franchise took a hit as well. For Your Eyes Only dropped from Moonraker and that wasn't due to a change in casting for the title role.

But MIB3 isn't the Will Smith sequel we've wanted to see..it's ID4 2!
