Re: March 30-April 1 Predictions Everyone - don't forget that IMAX screens for Hunger Games vanish next weekend, which means that $10 million of its gross this weekend probably shouldn't even be considered.
That in mind:
1. Hunger Games - $69.7 million (-55%)
2. Wrath of the Titans - $35.6 million
3. Mirror Mirror - $16 million
4. 21 Jump Street - $13.4 million (-37%)
5. The Lorax - $8.6 million (-34.5%)

Wrath will break 30m and Mirror will break 20m. 21 Jump Street will hold well. Everything else will drop huge.

Re: March 30-April 1 Predictions I can see a 60% drop for THG. No midnights about $20m, no IMAX a boost of about $5m and then a drop of about 52% for $62m second weekend. The WOM is great but I don't think it is at the level of Avatar or TDK.

It will lose its remaining 3D screens to Wrath of the Titans, lose a ton of theatres overall (its PTA is shitty) and Wrath is even more direct competition than The Hunger Games, leaving basically nothing for it. A drop better than 55% would surprise me. Re: March 30-April 1 Predictions JC is looking at a 70%+ drop IMO unless Disney does some fudging.
21 Jump Street is the only film I see getting a solid drop this weekend and thats only cause the WOM for it is strong, theres no direct comedy competition this weekend, and it'll lose the least amount of theaters/screens. Lorax will lose a bunch of theaters/screens plus Mirror Mirror is direct competition, Act of Valor faces direct comp with Wrath, Project X will lose a lot of theaters/screens, and a Thousand Words just sucks.
However, the top 3 alone will make 120m+ so it should be a good weekend overall.

Re: March 30-April 1 Predictions Nah, Lorax will be able to hold onto a decent amount of screens and theaters next weekend, and for a while. It's still the only animated movie in release (And will be until The Pirates! in five weeks) and after Mirror Mirror it'll also be the one of the only two family films in release. And it's still one of only two non-THG holdovers actually making money, which means pretty much all of the multiplexes are going to hold onto it as they finally dump Silent House, A Thousand Words, Project X, and any February holdovers they still have (All of those have PTAs under $1,100 right now). The pace of new openers means that a LOT of stuff that would have normally been gone by now is still here, and I think Lorax can take advantage of that for a while.
