Even with it's R-rating, I can still see this open to what Hostel did adjusted (close to $24m) and finishing with $55-60m total. It didn't cost too much so hopefully this will help the studio get 2012 off to an excellent start. If there is already a thread, my apologies.

This had what may be the worst trailer I have ever seen for a film but it'll be an ok $35-40M hit.

It seems like this movie has a respectable amount of buzz going for it, atleast the most I have seen for a horror movie since PA3/TLE. That trailer they put with PA3 went over like gangbusters and the R rating is even better since people will know it won't be holding back on the scares. Anyways, no matter how well it does in the long run it should be declared a hit by opening weekend considering I hear it's really low budget.

This looks like a really good effort. The trailer has got very good reactions every time it has played here. I am hoping for this to do well, but I think that most of the good scenes are already out in the trailer unless it has some real serious horror scenes that were avoided from the trailer.

It opened better than expected but got worse legs than expected (every weekend it has dropped at least 66%). It will end up with $54m (54 times than its $1m budget).

I highly doubt it will get to even $54m from here. The found footage Chronicle and horror breakout WIB would seal the coffin this weekend, getting a multiplier of little more than 2 from $642k weekend looks like a really hard ask right now.

Yeah very shocking performance but it also proves that Paramount's marketing in found footage genre is great specially for horror films.

Yes, in all aspects. Good and bad. The frontloadness shocks me as much as its opening. I mean, of course, we new it'd drop like a rock...but not hitting the multiplier olf 1.6...I mean...WOW!
