Re: Early Friday estimates
IMO, Lionsgate dropped the ball just a tad with The Possession. Not their best campaign for a horror movie. Still a solid number, though, if also a dull one. Lawless is doing well.

Re: Early Friday estimates
It's too bad The Possession didn't fare better. In my opinion, it's a good genre movie. It is what it is, but in a satisfying way. Nicely made. Certainly far superior to the godawful The Devil Inside.

Re: Early Friday estimates
Millenium/Lionsgate’s The Expendables 2 (3,334 theaters) is in 3rd place with $2.2M tonight, and $8.7M for the 3-day weekend and $11.0M for the 4-day holiday for a new cume of $68M. Lets hope Nikki Finke is correct!!

Re: Early Friday estimates
The Dark Knight Rises is the only Top 12 movie to drop less than 30% from last Friday. Here's hoping for a sub-20% drop over the 3-day weekend...
The Intouchables might actually increase over the 3-day weekend.
The Avengers did alright in the re-expansion. Brave...not so much.
Lawless is doing below my expectations...seriously, the market was pretty empty and it got a very wide release for a movie like this. It's going to end up with less than $15 million in six days...
The Possession did typical-Labor-Day-weekend-horror-trelease numbers. Should make $18-19 million over the 4-day weekend and around $40 million in total.
