Monday was generally a little worse for movies comparing to 2005. Perhaps Independence Day is moving towards an opposite direction as what Mother's/Father's Day has for movies, where for this particular holiday people are becoming more interested in family gathering, parties, and fireworks celebrations.

Monte Carlo really fell apart...

Maybe the Royal Wedding and a Movie on the same weekend were just to much...

I was really expecting some creative accounting on Paramount's part. :funny:

Probably doesn't have a real target to fudge anyway since it crossed $180m, and they don't really care much about $100m 3-day since it already claimed the Independence Day weekend record.

People have too many free options during the 4th. Most people go see fireworks and/or a barbecue so I am not surprised that the 4th is becoming less a movie day.

Overall pretty good for Transformers I think. It was never set to beat the last one.

It looks like it. Good Friday is getting the same type of effect now, used to one of the busiest days, but now it's just another Friday for theaters.
