Good numbers for Transformers eventhough I know some are still gonna call it underwhelming. Atleast it looks like this one will have great legs and is guranteed to gross $300M+ domestic and may even reach as high $350M. Cars 2 had the most brutal drop of the weekend and it looks like it will struggle crossing $200M. Maybe now Pixar will think twice before greenlighting anymore unessecary sequels. Bad Teacher fell hard as well, but that cinemascore from last week showed that wom was already pretty bad on this one and with so many other comedies coming out it's not going too far past $90M. $100M is deffentially not happening at this point.

Yeah, Bad Teacher looks headed for about $95M. Still a great performance.

so a little over 180 milliom for the 6.5 days... phenominal.

I KNEW it would come nowhere close to that ridiculas MTC number. They were smoking crack when they predicted 138 million 6 days....

So TF3 delivers the biggest opening weekend of the year despite burning of $65m of demand mid-week...

Almost as good as Spiderman 2, which did the exact same amount in 6 days (no previews).

18.7 million Monday seems reasonable..

181 million 6-day, with TF2 legs that is 337 million.

Has it ever happened before that THREE movies crossed the $100m mark in a single weekend (SUPER 8 on Thursday being the FOURTH one if only weekend charts matter)?

According to this article, the expected overseas gross Through Monday should be around 225 million plus 181 million domestic for a 406 million 6-day opening.

2 stories from this weekend are.

Cars 2 doing far worse then expected.

Tf3 opens to original expectations but did extremely well considering its low mid week opening.

Superb opening for Transformers. Certainly much less frontloaded than the second film was.

Cars 2's plunge is pretty severe, no getting around that. Same for Bad Teacher, although I think that can recover even with Horrible Bosses opening.

Larry Crowne's opening isn't awful (especially considering the low $30M budget) but it's still not as good as it could/should have been. Tom and Julia would've been able to open that to $30M on their names alone ten years ago...but names alone isn't good enough these days, the product actually has to look roundly appealing.

Bland start for Monte Carlo.

Super 8 is still doing quite well. Green Lantern got crushed again, however. Mr. Popper's Penguins is having a run best described as "quiet."

Another phenomenal drop for Bridesmaids in the face of a big theater loss. It could squeak past $165M when all is said and done. Amazing.

Speaking of amazing, Midnight in Paris continues to impress. The PTA is still over $4,000, a pretty big accomplishment. Hannah and Her Sisters' record will go down soon.

This is an ugly 3day weekend in general, everything had larger than expected drops. TF3 is about doing the norm (Better IM) thanks to the lower opening day. Interesting tidbit, since 02 when we had our first 100 million opener, every year has had at least 1 before July hit. Is Potter and Twilight Wednesday openers?

KFP2's performance is just sad and embarrassing for an animated flick of its kind... Cars 2 ain't looking much better so far either.

who would have thought Cars 2 and KFP2 would end up below 400 million combined??? lol

KFP2's performance is even sadder because it was actually a great movie. :(

Terrible for Cars 2. It won't reach $200 million like this.

Damn! TF3 has rebounded nicely after it's first shitty 2.2 days.
It just may top 300m :D

Unless it starts displaying some mid-week strength and good holds next weekend, it will be demolished by Harry Potter.

I'm actually hoping this doens't gross $200m, it'll break that Pixar streak of good grosses (yes, the original Cars actually had a good gross i thought).

Kung Fu Panda 2 performance is just terrible, at this rate it won't even make $170m, which is even lower than Madagascar. So much for a new animated franchise, i wonder if Despicable Me 2 will suffer the same fate.
