Post The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Pt. I (INTL.)
The predecessors:

Twilight - $199,846,771
The Twilight Saga: New Moon - $413,203,828
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - $397,959,596

The third film was really hurt in Eurpe by the stronger dollar. I don't expect this to be the case when Breaking Dawn: Part I is released this November. Besides, overseas it seems like a really good release date for it anyway. I definitely expect this to become the series' highest-grosser so far, much like the last Harry Potter managed to do so overseas.

I think we'll see $420-425 million here.

Is there an IMAX surcharge this time? I would really love to see what these surcharges will do for OW of these movies.

Still I think with the November release date these movies will do great...it just suits perfectly during that time. This also has the advantage of a longest wait for the franchise. I could see this making $450m

I don't think 'long wait' is an advantage.

And considering that Eclipse only made $5m more in the States v. New Moon, I don't buy the 'stronger dollar' argument at all. The series is running out of steam. $260m dom/$350m intl.

The "stronger dollar" argument is pretty much a fact. It hurt many other films too during that time, but particularly Twilight is strong in Europe. I mean Eclipse did beat New Moon in admissions in Germany, but lost in gross ($-wise). How often do you see that happen?

The Breaking Dawn novel is so fucking weird, I'm pretty much expecting this to drop off from the last one both domestically and overseas.

One thing's for sure, it'll still open huge as per usual. I'm expecting another record breaking if not Top 3 opening weekend in Australia.

BTW - is it me or is the trailer for Breaking Dawn quite weird, not in keeping with the past releases, or perhaps it was just the soundtrack.

REgardless the girls will be there in droves, at least to see the procreation scene :funny:

Agreed that the plot is very wired specially the first part of the novel. This can easily decrease in both OS and domestic totals

Did New Moon open earlier similar to Breaking Dawn in few markets? The number is impressive still New Moon's OW had $132.5m whereas BD1 got to $104.5m.

$381m total.

With HK and JP (are there any more?) still to open it will surely cross $400m mark and there is a strong possibility that it will overtake New Moon's $413m OS total....if that happens that will be very similar to DH1 (in terms of overtaking the highest OS grosser of the series)
