Post subject: | The definitive Midnight/Preview numbers thread |
There's no official list that I know of for Midnight numbers, probably because they're so sketchy already and haven't been closely watched until recently. But I'm gonna change that! Added The Hangover's $1 million midnight number (Which Brandon somehow has) and notfabio's Alice in Wonderland guesstimate, a movie that for some reason doesn't have an official number (Despite clearly doing gangbusters). |

Nice work Jon. Here's some more that I have, with theater count in the 3rd column when I have it. I'm sorry I don't have the source listed for these, but with this info you could find it. I get it from the usual sources - bom, deadline, guru, notfabio, etc. 2012, 1.000, Battle: Los Angeles, 0.750, Bruno, 1.600, Cloverfield, 0.800, Fast and Furious, 1.800, G.I. Awesome thread. Here is one not included: Indy 4 scored an estimated $4.5 million in midnight shows in the U.S. About that Alice in Wonderland estimate though. It looks too high because it was reported On Stranger Tides had better midnights. Maybe 3.5-4.5 million would be a better estimate. In the U.S., "On Stranger Tides" earned $4.7 million in Thursday midnight runs from 2,210 theaters. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20110520/film_nm/us_pirates |

How much will the last Harry Potter get. And what about the final Breaking Dawn film? Could it be the first movie ever to make more during midights than during normal day shows opening day? I'm thinking $33 million for Harry Potter, $30 million for Breaking Dawn I and $37 million for Breaking Dawn II. TDKR has a shot at $40 million. |

I think based on the pattern BD1 will have higher midnights than Eclipse. BD2 will further enhance it. TDKR midnights would be interesting. But it would be hard to beat the twihards. |

Aww just realized that the midnight record is 30m+ somehow I thought it was $37m....with this I don't see Potter doing more than $35m midnights (max), I agree with Lecter on $33m. |
