This gives Sith's midnight total as an exact $16,912,367.

Edit: Also, this http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=2601&p=.htm says Transformers 2 scored $16.8 million due to the infamous Puerto Rico incident.

Thank you very much! :wub2:

Updated, though I left off the Titanic 3D number as I try to stick strictly to midnight numbers. And updated with those changes, BGE! (Though BOM's list in the Hunger Games article had the other numbers...weird).

Before TDK, only 3 films had over $10 mil at midnight... since TDK, there have been 9 more.

The Avengers: $18.7 million http://boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3436&p=.htm

18.1m for the avengers, BOM is using older data, the official number was posted late friday, BO.COM reported the figure, I think Nikki reported the drop as well.

I think it was a typo. Nikki changed back to $18.7M.

Can't see why Disney wouldn't want this on top of TDK, and would revise down.

I'm ridiculously late to all of this, but WTF HARRY POTTER??? $43.5m? Geez. And those Twilight numbers are downright appalling. Like, people stayed up late by the millions to watch that crap. Maybe they were hoping vampires would catch them and kill them. I kinda wish they did

So there is no doubt TDKR is getting #2 on this list. The only question is whether is can get to #1.

Updated the list, and I've started including asterisks with numbers that don't separate Thursday night and Midnight numbers, which is the case for Sinister, Paranormal Activity 4 and (Most annoyingly) Breaking Dawn II, which I'm not officially ranking.

No, they were exclusively midnight.

I couldn't see The Hobbit on the list, or does that not count because they were 10PM shows, I think..

Anyway, it made $13m.

That's rubbish. From two showings it only made $1.15m. The Devil Inside made $2m just from midnights.

Post subject:  Re: The definitive Midnight numbers thread

The Devil Inside was also marketed better, and most theaters only had 10PM showings of TCM anyway.
