Not sure if I should join. I could easily see this. I have Thor at the most with 180 Million.

Most realistic superhero club yet, but for some reason I can see Capt. America rising above the heap of mutants and magic, esp. with the new-found wave of patriotism going around. People want to celebrate the guys who take out the terrorists. And it's the most similar to Spider-man or Iron Man I think. The others for sure I don't see reaching the mark.

I'd need to see the Twitter tracking before I join such a bold venture.

By the time it's out most people will be over their newfound patriotism :P.

Yeah, I'm in. I think Captain America will get very close, but probably miss the mark.

Not enough discussion of each one. Only one way to fix that.

I think that, just as people's predictions for Thor have gotten rosier, so too will we see either Green Lantern or Captain America break out to a possible 200+ million sum. I'm not sure which, but I think at least one will.

Ive been thinking this for over a year. But I think Captain America could very well blow past that because of the wave of patriotism sweeping the states, the fact that it looks good and the success/quality of Thor. It has to be good offcourse.

The patriotism surge will be dead by late-July. Won't have any effect.

Don't you believe it.. THOR is mainly the appetizer and CAPTAIN AMERICA will be the main course.. It'll be huge..

I don't think patriotism has to do anything with the failure of this club. I don't see any of them breaking out but one of them will clear this mark (albeit narrowly).

Both are more than going to clear 180M.. This is getting absurd..

2 will beat this club, possibly 3.

I know a lot will be over the patriotism wave, but that is mostly the youth audience with short attention spans who tend to kind of forget the last blockbuster as soon as the next one comes out.

But for those who choose only a few theatrical movies for the whole summer or year, current events may tip the scales for them toward Captain. A much bigger contingent than those that drove GI Joe or Battle LA. The movie has (or had) the potential to be the American 300 of sorts. July 4 will renew a lot of those feelings and help build anticipation for it.

The patriotism factor helped Spider-man even 8 months after 9/11. There was a patriotism element to it that attracted people who wouldn't have gone to see it otherwise.

Yeah $170m is the upper limit for Thor it seems.

The only chance for $180m+ are X Men and Captain America now.

I thought Thor would be very close to this mark but the drop this weekend guarantees that WOM is not really going to help any movie this summer...even with no competition. Whenever there are big movies releasing all the others are suffering. I believe Captain America has the shot at 180m now. X-Men is more shaky after 4 movies, GL well it does not look that its going to make more than $150m-$160m

Don't say things you can't take back later... But Thor only has ~61 million to go coming off of a ~34 million weekend. And I thought this was supposed to be one of the lame ducks of the comic-book summer movies.

Ha ha...my bad but you have got to admit this Saturday was insane for all movies. And yes I agree that Thor has a good shot now at 180m...glad I did not join this club :D

I now think all will cross $180M. Superhero decline is a myth.

I think Thor still has a chance, it will be at about $150m before Memorial-Day weekend coming from $15m weekend. The coming weekend could be absolutely brutal still action seekers have Thor and F5. With 50%-55% drop (helped with Memorial-Day weekend), it still might make it to $180m total

I'm fairly confident X-Men: First Class will ruin your club too, Magnus. The built-in fanbase alone pretty much guarantees it crosses $150 million, I think. Add in the fact that it's apparently actually a very good film (it's 100% fresh with an 8/10 rating at RT so far, though that's only 11 reviews) and that should easily give it the other 30 million it needs.

Heck, Thor's going to come pretty close, and X-Men has a far wider appeal than Thor does.

There could be a case that other than GL every other comic-book movie crosses $180m
