Rio will likely just open in the Top 10 in September, could miss, and I doubt it does more than $5 million total in Japan.

Ice Age 3 only grossed $1.3 million, How To Train Your Dragon barely cracked $5 million, and I don't even remember what Megamind made (I think it's release was cancelled). Non-Pixar/Disney Western animated films keep doing worse and worse.

I'd predict $2.5 million for Rio.

What's the reason for that?

After being trampled down by TF3, KFP2 and TH2, Rio re-enters Top 100 WW position at #100 though this will also be short-lived cause Harry Potter will blow past this mark quite soon. Cars 2 is also racing ahead from behind. It is at $471m now and would need to make atleast $5m more from here on to survive this year in Top 100. I see Cars 2, HP 7.2, Twilight 4.1 and one surprise hit more crossing this mark so its target would be to cross $476.7m of Home Alone. I think it has a good chance to make it with the 2 markets still left.

$336,000,000

Late legs have been very good both domestically and internationally. Its the opening that killed the movie otherwise this had a shot of staying in the Top 10 WW of the year, it should anyways be close. Cars 2 though not guaranteed should pass this just by a few millions.

Just noticed the movie has now returned back in the Top 100 and is now at #97, so atleast for this year it should stay in Top 100

Impressive overseas performance...but it still won't end up in the yearly Top 10 worldwide.

It might be close to #10 of the year and if Sherlock Holmes and Tintin under-perform then there is still a slight chance, though highly unlikely.

$338,879,957

90 Clash of the Titans (2010) - $493.2 - $163.2 - $330.0
91 Angels & Demons - $485.9 - $133.4 - $352.6
92 Toy Story 2 - $485.0 - $245.9 - $239.2
93 Bruce Almighty - $484.6 - $242.8 - $241.8
94 Shrek - $484.4 - $267.7 - $216.7
95 Rio - $482.3 - $143.4 - $338.9

It is at #95 in All Time List with $482.3 WW total. With the legs it is having, it should cross Shrek and Bruce Almighty, might even top Toy Story 2 and Angels and Demons, though I don't see it getting higher. Crossing COTT does not seem likely at this point.
