Why are the predictions for Hop so high? Well there hasn't been anything BIG on the market for famlies and kids to go to since Gnomeo and Juliet. Mars was a HUGE bomb and Rango doesn't really count since it skewed older and wasn't exactly a kid friendly movie in the first place. Besides the marketing for it has been great and honestly were talking about a movie thats about the fucking Easter Bunny here. Kids will eat it up. |

^ Agreed even though the movie does not look as great this is a cute adorable pet we are talking about that kids will eat-up. On a side note though the breakout of this movie would definitely hurt chances of Rio. |

i think source code is being unpredicted. I know adults have had their share of realistic sci-fi thrillers (Ajustement Bureau, Limitless, even Battle LA) but this has been well marketed, tracked very well on twitter, and is getting solid reviews. Plus I believe Duncan Jones really put together a solid movie so it'll be leggy. I'm predicting something like 23/79m. |

I would normally agree with all of these points, except Jake Gyllenhaal is the lead. I doubt he can open this to $20m+. |

I too think the premise here is the draw not Jake. |

I just know I've received some groans when I mentioned who was in it. |

Well, Summit was able to open their sci-fi/disaster film Knowing to 24 million despite being headlined by Nicolas Cage, whose recent track record was just as spotty as Jake Gyllenhaal... But global apocalypse tends to sell better than contained disasters. Still, I do think Source Code has the potential to go high. Older audiences seem to be dominating this spring, and I doubt the trend will change this weekend. Hop and Insidious are both wild cards too... That and I haven't slept tonight thanks to heavy-duty procrastination, so I don't feel like predicting precise numbers... |

Insidious' advertising may be too vague for major success of any kind. No discernible characters and no Big Scare moments. Just lots of quick flashes of assorted creepiness. |

The predictions for all the movies seem high here. I'm not really sure where they'll go, but I don't see Hop breaking $30m and Insidious breaking $10m. |

I have a really good feeling about April, the movies look appealing and I think we're going to see some strong weekends. |

What is your top choice to see in April? 22.5% Scream 4 19.1% Fast Five -BOM This is another great sign for Scream 4. |

It's going to be real interesting to see how Hop affects Rio. If Hop does bigger numbers than expected and has great legs to boot it could seriously take a toll on Rio's breakout potential. Still those are some very strong numbers for the April slate eventhough I think YH is being overestimated. |

It would be kind of funny if the last 3 weekends of April did see $40M+ openings back-to-back-to-back after it has yet to happen a single time this year. Don't want to jinx it, though. |

Yeah i don't see where that Your Highness number is coming from. I literally haven't seen a single piece of marketing for it yet outside of a few small ads on the corner of Rotten Tomatoes or Box Office Mojo. |

I have seen ads everywhere, especially during the March Madness games. They have showed a lot of adds during the games that figures because it is the target audience. |

There are ALOT of spots during Monday Night Raw on USA too and then when you factor in that both Natlie Portman and James Franco are coming fresh off of Oscar buzz then you obviously get BIG results like this. |
