Post Re: Black Swan (INTL) $72m and counting...
Black Swan earned $19.4 million from 34 territories for a foreign total of $72.6 million. It opened in third place in France and Mexico with $4.7 million and $1.3 million, respectively, and also had strong holdover performances in Germany ($2 million), the United Kingdom ($1.7 million) and Russia ($1.7 million). Its worldwide (domestic plus foreign) total now rests north of $172 million, and with openings in Italy, Spain and a handful of other countries next weekend it should be able to reach $200 million in the near future.

Really impressive.

I am pretty sure it'll eclipse $160 million overseas and $260 million worldwide...the question is - will it make it to $300+ million WW?

It increased by 3% last weekend to €367.594 here in Holland. In its first two weeks it's already made €1.037.057. Very impressive.

^That has been the story at most of the markets. It seems that at first it is the core fans that see it and then the WOM is kicking in. The unsure moviegoers who think that such an artsy film will not work are the ones getting confirmation after the first week and that is why I see that there is an increase in most of the markets.

I think it will make it to 300m WW. Which definitely would be amazing for it

It will easily cross $200 million OS and $300 million WW. Should end up with about $310/315 million.

That number isn't the weekend gross.

The film opened on a Wednesday, so that could be the 5-day total. The opening day was $1.25 million, so it's likely the $6.1 million was is the 5-day total.

Regardless though, it opened on top this weekend in Japan, and it's a good opening and will play all summer and has $20 million locked. It reminds me of Confessions last summer.

The film's worldwide success is still hard for me to fathom. It's now at $213,694,875 overseas and has apssed $320 million worldwide. Still doing decent numbers in Japan.

In Germany it finished with 2,133,356 admissions. Not only is that a huge success by itself, it is also the biggest rated 16 (only for audiences 16 years old or older) movie of the year so far and the biggest since Inglourious Basterds in 2009.
