The film should have some great international appeal. Here's how Stallone's recent films have performed overseas: Rambo - $70,490,185 Rocky Balboa - $85,450,189 Statham's: Crank: High Voltage -$20,876,328 Transporter 3 - $77,264,487 The Bank Job - $34,762,136 Death Race - $39,361,483 Li's (I'm excluding The Mummy 3): The Forbidden Kingdom - $75,892,303 WAR - $17,966,234 Fearless - $43,439,118 The combination of them and the addition of other known action stars should do wonders. It opened in 20 markets last weekend, no numbers have been released yet, though. I expect at the very least $120 million overseas, though $150 million is possible too. |

It had very good openings in Spain and Australia. Arnold and Willis will certainly help as well, there international numbers are extremely strong too, I think the marketing was the same style overseas as domestically. |

Preliminary weekend estimates puts "Expendables" weekend tally at roughly $18 million, pending revision of China market final returns, which don't report until Tuesday. "Expendables," which finished No. 1 in the prior weekend, is playing a total of 32 markets via various local distributors with only a handful of major territories reporting so far. Overseas cume stands at an estimated $75 million. The Milennium Films /Nu Image Films super-octane action vehicle directed by and costarring Sylvester Stallone, with Jason Stratham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts and Mickey Rourke, opened in Germany, Norway and Thailand in the latest round. "Expendables'" No. 3 Germany bow via local distributor Splendid produced $2.9 million from 531 sites while a No. 1 Austria debut via Centfox captured $501,032 from 68 spots. (The film's Japan opening via Pony Canyon is scheduled for Oct. 16.) http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3idbe87d2389f4477c2c2d570c9b9ee626 After 3 weekends has passed Rocky Balboa with 157 million WW, its 75 million total isn't definite yet as China hasn't been added yet so its probably higher. Doing pretty good numbers overall so far. |

I wish we would finally get some solid numbers. The $75 million estimate seems way too low. The film is at almost $24 million in China after two weeks at it is at £6,816,414 in UK after two weeks. Right now $250+ million worldwide looks like a lock and $300+ million is actually possible too. It'll probably be the biggest worldwide hit for Stallone since Rocky IV, maybe even his biggest ever! |

This one has dropped extremely well, better than even Salt. It's quite a surprise for this type of movie, i would think that it would have big openings and week legs, but guess not. Looks like people really want straight no fuss bad ass action. |

Screendaily had 60.3 mln last week and 24.7 mln this weekend so it probably should be around 100 million right now. |

http://www.the-numbers.com/interactive/ ... ewsID=5429 The Expendables held on to top spot on the international chart with $24.70 million on 4823 screens in 38 markets for a total of $101.46 million after just three weeks of release. It had a few openings over the weekend, most notably in Germany where it placed third with $2.94 million on 531 screens. Meanwhile, it fell from first to fourth in the U.K., but still added $2.02 million on 453 screens over the weekend for a total of $10.52 million after two. With openings in Italy and Japan ahead, the film will have no trouble getting to $250 million worldwide, which is more than enough to ensure a profit. |

If that number is correct, with Japan, Italy and some smaller markets still ahead this looks like an almost sure thing for $200+ million OS. |

That's great. I watched it again and I do enjoy the idea of bringing together these action stars in an explosion filled shoot'em up. I hope they get even more stars for the sequel. |

Dr. Lecter wrote: BOM finally added the international gross and they have it at $90,000,000. Which isn't correct, and the admin said it looked suspect in the site help forum. I've added up most markets and got a value just over $100m, like Screendaily has reported. |

From the-numbers.com -The Expendables also hit a milestone or two this weekend, despite slipping to second place with $13.59 million on 4,793 screens in 42 markets for a total of $125.76 million internationally and $217.95 million worldwide. I was not expecting this film to reach $200 million worldwide, and even with a production budget that is north of $80 million, this is a fantastic run and it is not quite done. It opened in second place in Italy with $1.17 million on 326 screens for a total opening of $1.63 million. |

It's fading too fast overseas and unless it will be huge hit in Japan 200 million foreign and 300 worldwide is not likely at this point. |

Hmm, might be true. Didn't realize that it has been released almost everywhere already. Rambo made $8.5 million in japan, so I expect this to make maybe around $11-12 million. Then again, I think all foreign numbers we've been getting so far might be a bit incorrect too...too many differences between the sources. |
