Re: HARRY POTTER 7-1: Deathly Hallows (INTL.)
I think the November release date really helps it. I see it being the #1 movie WW beating TS3 by a few million.

I want it to beat the twilight new moon opening weekend, but not the dark knight record (domestic)

I see it making from 725m to 775m OS and probably a bit more, the final chapter part 2 will be huger than this one but only if HP7.1 makes us to stay in our seats at the end of the film

If Alice can get close....HP7-1 should do just as well considering it's even bigger of a draw in Europe (or European influenced countries) and should at least match or get close to Alice in the other regions. The key difference maybe Japan. To get to $700m+, it will need a $100m+ gross in Japan....or alternatively, huge takings in China and Russia.

Re: HARRY POTTER 7-1: Deathly Hallows (INTL.)
Well Alice and Toy STory 3 were also 3D, and they ended up around the $1billion mark. HP7-I needs to stage a good comeback for the series in Japan, it's been languishing badly of late.

Re: HARRY POTTER 7-1: Deathly Hallows (INTL.)
http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1810004780/video/219Theatrical Trailer. This is just EPIC! I love it how we've seen glimpses of the characters which have featured prominently in past installments, i.e. Dobby, Death Eaters, Professor Umbridge. The acting from the three leads alone in this trailer probably beats all their previous efforts. and the scene with Voldermort face to face with Dumbledore in his grave is just so poignant so to is Ron's war of words with Harry. Easily $1.1billion+ Potter's back in business and could well become the 3rd franchise to obtain back to back yearly #1 Worldwide title. LOTRs did it in 2002-2003 and Pirates did it in 2006-7.

Was very happy to see Dobby. I was worried they were going to ignore him like they did the last 5 movies. This just looks awesome!

I know, i had a warm and fuzzy feeling inside when i saw Dobby. As bad as he was, it adds that nostalgia and additional magical element back into the series. The series is getting darker and darker more real and gritty so its good to see this counterbalanced. I'm so excited! To look back over the last decade, Potter has been a permanent fixture throughout, to think that its going to end makes me really sad I've got no doubt in my mind that this will easily cross $300m with anywhere $350-400m not out of the question. Overseas is going to be super, i love big grosses

Are you really sure about that? Joanne K. Rowling just said on Oprah that she has ideas for three more HP books...

Though we don't know whether it takes place after HP7 or like the Star Wars spinoffs...will be fillers?

I'd say this is a lock for $650 million overseas and $1 billion worldwide. Amazing to be saying this...but it is a lock.

Re: HARRY POTTER 7-1: Deathly Hallows (INTL.)
I agree with you, i don't feel this confident in a moving hitting $1billion since well, ROTK. This is going to be massive and the lack of competition in the month of November (especialyl overseas) is just going to bolster its chances.
At the momment, i even think $700m is almost a done deal.

One less shitty 3D conversion. COTT taught them a lesson.

ROTK is safe!
Unfortunately, part 2 will still be in 3D.

What a mess...
Many theaters in Germany already sold plenty of (3D) tickets for opening week... I wonder how they will handle the downgrade...

Re: HARRY POTTER 7-1: Deathly Hallows (INTL.)
The complete press release: Quote: Warner Bros Pictures has made the decision to release “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” in 2D, in both conventional and IMAX theaters, as we will not have a completed 3D version of the film within our release date window. Despite everyone’s best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality. We do not want to disappoint fans who have long-anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey, and to that end, we are releasing our film day-and-date on November 19, 2010 as planned. We, in alignment with our filmmakers, believe this is the best course to take in order to ensure that our audiences enjoy the consummate “Harry Potter” experience.
Producer David Heyman said, “For 10 years, we have worked alongside Alan Horn and the studio, whose priority has always been to preserve the integrity of Jo Rowling’s books as we have adapted them to the screen, and this decision reflects that commitment.”
Director David Yates continued, “This decision, which we completely support, underscores the fact that Warner Bros. has always put quality first.”
As scheduled, on July 15, 2011, we will deliver to conventional and IMAX theaters our final installment of the film franchise, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2,” in both 2D and 3D formats.
