Post subject:  Scott Pilgrim under KA Club
Despite it has the advantages of having a PG-13 for SP unlike KA which was rated R, I see this movie doing half as good as Kick A--. Why? Because it seems that this movie isn't for mainstream audiences and it's releasing on the same date as the Expendables which is probably going for the same audience. Then again, H2 and FD4 released on the same date but both still did fine. My prediction is that Scott Pilgrim's opening weekend will be similar to The Losers.

It's getting a HEFTY push. It doesn't appear to be for the mainstream, but there are a lot of people who watch non-mainstream movies when they're given the chance. I'm saying 20m/50m for now, it has a wide range though. I could see sub 30m or over 75m

Kick Ass was Rated R Scott Pilgrim is going to be PG-13 which means a lot more people can buy tickets to Scott Pilgrim without buying tickets to another movie and try sneaking into Scott Pilgrim like they did with kick ass.

I'm in, even with the PG-13 rating. It just looks too out there for mainstream audiences, far moreso than Kick Ass.

I don't think Scott Pilgrim will make as much as KA. It could be a good movie
and it could be fun, but it just doesn't look mainstream.

I think you underestimate the appeal, when I saw the trailer I instantly wanted to see it, I showed it to my crowd and some straggling extra and they all thought it looked like something they would want to see when it came out.

No way. With Cera, Wright, and a much more dedicated fanbase it will atleast match Kick-Ass. Also the female appeal for this is about 10x more than Kick-Ass.

I have it at 27/75 right now

And Scott Pilgrim was actually mentioned in Kick-Ass if anyone remembers. :funny:

I'm OUT on this too. No matter how insane and strange this movie looks there is still a loyal fanbase out there for it and if KA can do $19M with an R rating and an April opening than SP can atleast do $20M with a $50M close. It may not bet it by much, but it should still be able to edge it out.
