Pretty much, with the exception of Japan, i think. Was hoping for $100m myself but with the weak euro/pound i guess that's the best it could hope for.

2 years is a long time?

Let me stress the words "time movie" by which I meant older times. This was being played more from the director of Gladiator rather than "Body of Lies" due to the obvious similarities

Solid openings but nothing that really breaks out. The most impressive comparatively is probably Italy and Australia.

Australia was expected because of the leads.

I think Germany is impresive considering the recent lack of break-outs.

So what are we actually looking at here? Kingdom of Heaven opened in the same markets to a $55 million weekend and went on to make $164 million total.

Should we expect the same kind of legs for Robin Hood, which would put it at $220-230 million, or will it be able to go higher up $250 million or even as high as $300 million?

I think it should be able to go higher.I think you've got the range right $250-$300 million.

June 11th in China to be exact. Can't see it doing well with World Cup opening that weekend; people will be sleep-deprived already with the time difference to watch the games live.

Heh, it is exactly the opposite.

Whenever we get nice weather after a long stretth of shitty weather, people don't go to movies. We've had the coldest May of the last 10 years so far and this weekend the temperature is going above 20 degree Celcius for the first time in what seems like an eternity.

Well, by the end of the week, Robin Hood stands at $96,600,000 overseas. Decent, but not great. I expect $130-140 million by the end of the weekend...

Quote:
Universal's "Robin Hood" braved a generally soft weekend on the foreign theatrical circuit, narrowly holding on to the No. 1 overseas spot for the second consecutive stanza.

Unseasonably warm weather in key Western European markets suppressed attendance by as much as half in Scandinavia to a third in Spain and the U.K., according to Disney calculations. Paramount described the situation as a "heat wave across Europe which kept grosses down for all films."

Dropping 60% from its opening launch, Universal's "Robin Hood" fought its way to $30 million in its second round on the foreign circuit, playing 7,064 sites in 59 markets. So far, director Ridley Scott's re-imagining of the Crusades-era outlaw costarring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett has grossed a total of $125 million overseas.

"Robin Hood" finished No. 2 in the U.K. and Germany but logged strong No. 1 second round finishes in France ($2.7 million from 648 locations for a 12-day market cume of $10.9 million) and in Australia ($2.98 million from 461 situations for a cume of $9.2 million). The film has six more markets to play including China in June.

I think thast's solid after two weeks. Next weekend is supposedly going to be rainier and colder here in Germany at least, so I expect most movies to stay flat or even rise.

A $220+ million overseas total is still possible, IMO.

So people don't feel pressured to tighten their pockets? I read in the news that some generous government programs in Europe are subject to reform due to a contractionary fiscal policy to reduce debts.

Oh, and the stock markets around the world are plummeting the last 2 weeks or so, especially in Europe and the US. I think the Wall Street people felt the hit but not the street people, not yet.

Maybe, but the Greek financial crisis is far-fetching and impacting every member of the Euro-zone. Also, the latest move by Chancellor Merkel to ban short-selling made the Wall Street scratch their heads.

$137.8 million overseas as of Thursday.

By the end of the weekend it'll stand at $155+ million.

In Germany we're looking at a 120,000+ admissions weekend and over 1 million admissions by the end of the weekend (only the 8th film this year to manage that).
