Toy Story has never been that big here. With Shrek still fairly fresh out there, I doubt TS3 will break $8m OW. It will do well over the staggered school holidays though.

I think it can do $8m, expect massive Saturday takings.

Yeah, that's the source for the one posted above. But I couldn't find any archives. Do they just update that main page?

That could be because of 2D/3D screen count, so maybe it's not a weird thing. Maybe other major 3D releases had a similar ratio.

Last night's (Friday) sessions were very good for TOy Story 3, most of them around 90% full including most of the last sesssions around 9pm. It should have a wonderful day today.

It's currently 1pm, Saturday, already the 2pm sessions are already over 50% full.

CHILE - Opening Weekend

1 N Toy Story 3 (3D) Disney $1,381,076 - 123 - $11,228 $1,394,111 1
2 1 Robin Hood UIP $142,877 -35.5% 47 -8 $3,040 $431,224 2
3 2 Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Disney $79,446 -51.2% 60 -12 $1,324 $1,162,676 4

Took full advantage of what has been a very slow start to the Summer in Chile, Robin Hood opened in this market last week and hardly gross much more than $200k. The starts of Iron Man 2 and Prince of Persia have also been quite lacklustered.

Toy Story 3 enters at #3 on the all-time charts in US$. 2nd behind Ice Age 3 for animation record but easily above Pixar's previous best on opening Up.

1) Harry Potter 6: HBP - $1,633,771 (or $1,218,763 4-Day - 87)
2) Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs - $1,435,695 (or $1,381,331 4-Day - 89)
3) Toy Story 3 - $1,394,111 (or $1,381,076 4-Day - 123)

Currently Saturday 7pm, looks like's it's been performing quite consistenly through the day, most of the 7-7:30pm sessions are 90% regardless of cinema size. I'm expecting an opening around $9-$10.5m.

Shrek 4 is also performing in a similar amount of theatres (though probably not as much) and doing comparably worse. It's fizzing quite rapidly and at this rate, will probably fail to hit $30m.

Sunday around 12pm now, most early afternoon sessions are around 70-80%, not quite a match for yesterday but it's doing quite well.

On a side note, Twilight's sessions have been released already. It opens here next week against The Karate Kid on Thursday....if TKK's performance in Asia is anything to go by, it's going to be one hell of a week with Twilight sure to challenge New Moon's record opening (now with kids out on school holidays)....coupled with what will surely be a strong hold for TS3 and you may have 3 movies above $4m. The movie which i think will be lost in the shuffle is Shrek 4, which hasn't exactly set the market on fire.

Well, it had some nice weekdays, now sitting at $ 302,074,260 when its OW was $ 186,378,087. (excluding IMAX which accounted for $4.4m)

That would mean something like US$24.5m, which would have put it at #3 for 2009 after just one week. :noway:

What I meant was as of Thursday. Not including second weekend at all. Just the first week.

SM3 had $17.2m after its first week.

You can view the weekly figures at Canacine, but they don't archive their stuff so you'd have to view it before the 2nd weekend numbers come on.

That would then mean that it's blitzing the competition
