 Re: Offical Friday Numbers (BOG).
Looks like they are predicting an even worse multipler than Halloween which is understandable given the fanboy rush on Friday. I deffentially don't expect to hold up as well as TFD from lasy year since those movies have much broader appeal.

 Re: Offical Friday Numbers (BOG).
Using Extinction's multiplier, it'd get $26.8m. That sounds about right.
It's a solid opening. Nothing great, but considering it's the fourth film in the franchise, it's good.

What a dull weekend. And that number for RE is definitely a disappointment.

 Re: Offical Friday Numbers (BOG).
It's the 4th movie in a (trashy) franchise, i dunno if it's disappointing...

 Re: Offical Friday Numbers (BOG).
It's not a very good # for RE4. It may not drop as heavily as the others over time once the 3D word gets around. It deserves to drop in attendance though frankly when the franchise keeps stalling and failing to follow through with ideas and offering no end in sight.

 Re: Offical Friday Numbers (BOG).
I know a lot were expecting $30mil+, but come on. It's a fourth film in a series not a ton of people like, which critics hate, and, again, third sequel to a video game series. It is not a mainstream horror movie series. It has an audience, clearly. About the same people that saw Extinction OP are turning out for Afterlife.
It did fine. Not spectacularly, but disappointment? Nah.

 Re: Offical Friday Numbers (BOG).
I'm kinda suprised that people find RE's numbers so dissapointing. I mean the last movie didn't exactly blow people away. Sure most will say it's slightly better than part 2, but I knew it wouldn't become anything like the phenemenon that happened with the Saw movies ( that insane increase between 1 and 2). I think these movies have pretty much peaked in terms of their fanbase, but that won't stop Sony from making more.

 Re: Offical Friday Numbers (BOG).
I wouldn't say disappointing is the right word but the attendance dropped quite a bit. It's still a little early too. I want to see the Saturday actual.
Saw did a better job of advancing the story line by part 4, and its "more of the same" was still more to offer than RE.

 Re: Offical Friday Numbers (BOG).
A lot of theaters in my area that were capable of showing it in 3D did not show it on 2D. This might be going the way of Step Up when studios want the highest possible gross and it backfires when showing the majority of screens in 3D. People are definitely saving their 3D money for bigger fish.

 Re: Offical Friday Numbers (BOG).
I'm really curious about Jackass 3-D's potential now. I know it should deffentially have a significant increase over part 2 due to the positive reactions that last one got and it has much broader appeal. But, how many people are willing to spend major bucks on the 3D when big Winter blockbusters like HP7 are coming out just around the corner?

 Re: Offical Friday Numbers (BOG).
They can still see the 2d version, I think Jackass could be huge too, its been a long time and the trailer always gets great reactions.

Chuck is great! Deserves as many seasons as the creators want to do.
This weekend is not great. Why was there only one new release? Makes no sense.

 Re: Offical Friday Numbers (BOG).
I think the attendance dropping quite a bit is disappointing here. Especially considering how stable Resident Evil was between the second and the third film. The third opened even in way less theatres than the second and yet managed a slightly higher opening.

Oh and I see Inception finally passed $280 million!
I wonder if it makes it to $290 million...will WB try some sort of a rerelease push? Maybe if it's nominated for BP?
