There is obviously some mistake.
3. The Flowers of War - $92.83m (RMB488m) *
5. Flying Swords of the Dragon Gate - $68.89m (RMB434m) *

Both films were released on the same day so exchange rates should be also the same. SO The Flowers of War should have around $77.5 mln not $92.8 mln.

The Oxford Murders ? a movie from 2008 - is that part of the quota for foreign films ? if so then its a slot wasted

You get it all wrong. 20 movies per year is a quota for revenue sharing. Other foreign films can be bought and released in China for flat price. That is definitely the case.

Looks like the reported grosses for TFW are way higher, regardless both the movies TFW and FSDG are doing spectacular.

Actually the amount it had earned in local currency (RMB) is pretty close between the sources. It's just that they were using the wrong exchange rate.

1/9 - 1/15:

1. The Great Magician(大魔术师)- 74.6m ($11.81m) New 44,867 2,185,120 74.6m ($11.81m)

3. You Are the Apple of My Eye(那些年,我们一起追的女孩)- 35m ($5.54m) +29.6% 47,397 1,084,598 62m ($9.83m)
4. The Flowers of War(金陵十三钗)- 29m ($4.59m) -61.8% 30,729 717,716 592.5m ($93.50m)
5. Flying Swords of Dragon Gate 3D(龙门飞甲)- 27.7m ($4.38m) -61.8% 29,479 641,203 536.7m ($84.69m)
6. The Monkey King 3D(大闹天宫3D)- 18.6m ($2.94m) New 20,644 538,350 18.6m ($2.94m)
7. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows(大侦探福尔摩斯2:诡影游戏)- 18m ($2.85m) (opened on Sun) New 8,817 536,512 18m ($2.85m)

8. Dear Enemy(亲密敌人)- 5.8m ($0.92m) -74.8% 10,535 175,544 111.8m ($17.68m)
9. The Oxford Murders(深度谜案)- 2.48m ($0.39m) -75.2% 4,891 75,038 18.58m ($2.95m)
10. The Killer Who Never Kills(杀手欧阳盆栽)- 2.22m ($0.35m) -34.7% 7,457 74,000 5.62m ($0.89m)

Sherlock Holmes 2 had an odd release date of opening on Sunday, so will have to see how it does this week to get a sense of the bigger picture, but the start is better than what the original had (30m yuan in its opening 4 days).

Mission Incredible is the 4th installment of Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf franchise and set another franchise opening high.

That's probably good number for SH2 considering it opened on Sunday i.e only one day of the weekly report. The Great Magician did open well here as well, it is good opening for it.

That is still an excellent number for Sherlock Holmes. Now, it has the holidays to make as much money as it can.

It has been a holiday week with Lunar New Year, so not much reporting on the numbers, but the midnight return from Mission: Impossible 4 (1/28) is looking good; could be looking at a $6m OD.

Mission Impossible franchise still going strong in China. If that number holds, it could open with 12.5-13m 2-day OW. 50m doesn't sound impossible anymore.

And the actual for M:I4's first two days is 101.2m yuan, or $16m; simply terrific. Could be looking at a $60m total.

Yeah China is looking really big for MI4 and it helped a lot to get it to that coveted $400m mark.

Yeah I am just surprised how huge MI4 is in China. I mean the WOM is great and all but this figure tends to call it an uber-blockbuster in China. Beating DH2's figure is almost guaranteed with that number and there is a chance it beats Pirates 4's $73.8m figure as well.

M:I4's actual for the second week: 241m yuan ($38.2m, +138%). The total after 9 days stood at 342.2m yuan, or $54.18m. This is pretty insane, even if it had the help of holiday season. This Monday marked the end of the Lunar New Year celebration, so it could see a hefty drop this week and probably won't reach $100m in the end, but 500m yuan / $80m+ still looks good and would be beyond anybody's original expectation.

Looks like Titanic could be released on the same day (4/4) in China. It is going to be huge.

I'll ask you the same question, what makes you think Titanic will do so much better internationally than other re-releases? Sure, it was the biggest ticket seller like ever but even if it makes 3 times as much as say Lion King, that wouldn't be that much.

Well history is going to repeat itself....like literally :P

Also if I remember correctly the original Titanic release of 1997 never made to China market, which means a little extra build up demand to see it on big screen.
