In Singapore there is a fan screening this weekend at a very high price (5x the regular ticket price). But general screening is not due till Jan 2021-Feb 2021.

It just added another 20k admits/20 mins at usual locations at 10pm. Lol.
The is first time I saw this.
Does this mean we can expect this movie will have some heat at late night show? Which is different from other anime movies.

I recommend looking back at the last few pages. I've gone into some detail explaining why this film is so big. So big as in the biggest film opening ever by a near 2:1 margin! The Saturday alone is going to come very close to beating the opening WEEKEND record just by itself.

No. I thought it was going to be announced with the stage greeting showing this morning (milestones and records of various kinds are typically announced at these), but perhaps it being a virtual stage greeting kept them from wanting to do it that way.

When Saturday concludes, I'll provide a range for Friday and Saturday with an extreme low and high so we have the idea of where it'll end up versus an estimate it may go over or under. I'm not really concerned about getting the admissions too off, we've largely got that down to a small margin of error. The biggest unknown is what the average ticket price is. I've been using the standard 1,300, but there are reasons it could be lower (though definitely not by much) or higher (the more likely scenario).

These are the stats that keep me going back to Endgame's opening in states.

Post Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Just so any upcoming prediction posts aren't too cluttered with information, here are the reasons for an average ticket price coming in below the standard ¥1,300 or above it:

Below:
-The first showings in the morning and the 8pm showings in the evening are discounted nationwide. This is a normal practice to give more people on a budget opportunities to come to the movies. These were very popular showtimes for the film, especially on Friday since the afternoon showings were weaker due to it being a weekday.
-Aeon Cinemas was running a benefit for members to get a ticket for a discounted price of ¥1,100. Aeon has been crashing almost daily since Monday when online reservations first began, so I'm not sure how this may have impacted the sales and that benefit since attendees often had to buy a ticket in-person (or go elsewhere).
-The series has a pretty broad audience (and you could see varying age groups in the pictures shared), but it's safe to say it likely skews a bit more favorably toward teens/young-adults (students). And students receive discounted ticket prices.

Above:
-The film is rated PG-12. This is not unheard of for an animated film, but it's pretty rare, especially for a wide release like this. So due to this, adult ticket prices would be more common than child prices.
-It opened on all IMAX screens in the country with maxed out, sold out showings just about everywhere. This will greatly boost the average ticket price.
-Aeon Cinemas crashing a lot. As I mentioned above, you could get a discounted ticket at their locations this weekend for the film, but their online systems have crashed a lot, meaning audiences were more likely to buy a ticket at a different chain (where possible) than normal.
-This is an Aniplex release in collaboration with Toho in order to give it the widest release possible. Aniplex on their own often charge very high ticket prices (just like their home video releases...) for their films, well above the national average. However, being a Toho collaboration, I didn't see any overly-priced tickets anywhere, but there may have still been some sold through Aniplex themselves.

So we're talking 2.3m admissions in 2 days - up 55 % from YO-KAI-WATCH's record...

Yes, but it'll be Saturday and Sunday (not Friday). Sunday is honestly not going to trail Saturday by much (if at all). Its pre-sales (reservations) appear just as high, if not more. The Umeda theater I've posted numbers and images for is around 80% booked for the entire day again (just like Saturday).

The only disadvantage Sunday has is slightly fewer overall seats (6,000 less in this case) due to theaters cutting a late showtime or two. The last showings on Sunday are usually around 10pm versus 11pm/midnight on Saturday. But Sunday is usually bigger than Saturday, as it counters the lack of later showings by much, much stronger morning sales.

So if Saturday's admissions are 1.3/1.4 million, I'd expect Sunday's to be 1.2-1.4 million. So the 2-day opening weekend admissions could be as high as 2.7/2.8 million. 3-day admissions possibly as high as 3.6-3.8 million or so. I'll have some prediction ranges up this afternoon.

I realised one correlation with Baahubali 2 in India.

Prior to Baahubali 2, weekend record (3 days) in India was ₹1.47Bn. Baahubali 2 opened with ₹1.38Bn on Friday and went for ₹3.64Bn weekend and best 2 days of ₹2.58Bn.

Pure weekend admits record in Japan is 1.49mn Admits. DS will have 1.38mn approx on Saturday and 2 day perhaps 2.55-2.6mn & 3 days 3.5-3.6mn perhaps.

And note once again, just like with Friday, Aeon Cinemas and 109 Cinemas were down due to online traffic at various points throughout the day, and it's been confirmed again by the programmers that some sales weren't recorded. They've estimated most of the missing timeframes, but the final number for the day will be off slightly due to missing sales (meaning the actual will likely be higher).

I'll take this into account when providing estimate ranges on the extreme low and high ends.

That's such an absolutely insane number, wow. Even with that ridicolous number of seats it still managed to pull 77% capacity, unbelievable.

Post Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Even though I've been literally tracking this for like 48 hours (42+ straight), just looking at this number still seems unreal. It's just that BIG. And here we thought Frozen II had was big...

Post Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Updated Projections after Saturday's numbers:

Friday: ¥1.15-1.30 billion ($11-12 million) / 910,000-975,000 admissions.
Saturday: ¥1.70-1.90 billion ($16-18 million) / 1,325,000-1,425,000 admissions.
Sunday: ¥1.55-1.70 billion ($15-16 million) / 1,200,000-1,275,000 admissions.

Opening Weekend (Sat. & Sun.): ¥3.2-3.6 billion ($30-34 million) / 2,525,000-2,700,000 admissions.
3-Day Total (Fri.-Sun.): ¥4.4-4.9 billion ($42-47 million) / 3,425,000-3,675,000 admissions.

Sunday could match or beat Saturday, but I'll be "conservative" and predict it'll match or drop ~10%.

Also, if it still needs to be said, its first three days will be the three biggest days ever. In history. Each day by massive margins. Friday will be the third biggest day ever, so Saturday and Sunday will be fighting over which takes 1st.
