Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
The 10pm update will be crucial. Since it's a Sunday, only a few of the busiest theaters, largely in Tokyo (like Shinjuku) have showings after that point. But... I think it's going to get there since two-thirds of the 9pm showings are still to come.
I will be posting weekday estimates for this film as well. Not posting hourly updates like this, of course, just posting estimates after the day concludes. It's VERY important to remember that while theaters are at 100% capacity over the weekends now (Aeon aside), they're all still at 50% capacity (the checkerboard pattern) on the weekdays.
And I mostly say I'll do weekday estimates for the film because, while it might just be due to weekend spillover (nearly 80%, looking at a final number of 77/78%, of all its seats were sold this weekend after all...), Monday is looking very strong based on reservations. A lot of theaters will begin Monday just like they did Saturday and Sunday (already 70-80% booked in advance). Only half the seats will be available during the weekdays, but it can still post big numbers if it can sell 70-80% of the 50% seating available nationwide. This could also mean that the next couple of weekends, especially the second weekend, will be stronger than expected due to the weekday business being restricted to 50% capacity and pushing business back to the weekend(s).

Only 5462 now. Unfortunately the last update was quite low (+1891), so it will probably fall just a little short, but I'm keeping my hopes up.

Keep your hopes up! Tanjiro wouldn't give up. (Still think it'll get there).

Should be a little over 3k left with about 20k? seats to go. I think it'll barely make it!

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
And for anyone who is now interested in watching the anime or reading the manga, try to avoid looking it up on search engines. Very spoilerific top searches pop up with just about any related search. It was pretty surprising to say the least to see what popped up just now.
Season one of the anime covers about the first 25% of the story. And the film, which takes place right after the anime, takes that up to 30% or so of the story.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Mimorin hasnot posted about error today. If there was error in morning as Corpse mentioned, then we may be over 1mn too, but lets wait if he update later on.
Also yesterday number was said to be 990-995k by Mimorin in his post allowing for missed shows.
That said Independent chains are +14% over yesterday final, that means usual locations ratio may be lower than Saturday, so overall single day record is more likely.
Also @corpse, the report I yesterday mentioned, I misread what my friend meant. The film grossed 347mn in 6 metro regions in Japan on Saturday. Will see if I get more of it.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Yeah, there are definitely missed showings being excluded due to theater chains crashing every day, namely Aeon Cinemas, but 109 Cinemas and United Cinemas also experienced down times. United Cinemas was down Sunday morning, which was the first time their servers crashed over the weekend.
There's little doubt the actual numbers are higher than what can be tabulated and reported by ourselves, and the programmers do estimate what was possibly missing and include them afterward, but they don't add make believe numbers if they can't gather an reliable estimate.

Now only 1746 admissions behind. Hopefully the 10pm update pushes it above or very close to the mark.

Ignore that last post. I posted it too early. Will update soon.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Less than 600 admissions to go, should be around 10k-11k seats left. I'm pretty sure it's done it. 3 days, 3 records lol.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Okay, so the easy wait to see if it has enough in the last hour or so is to look the Shinjuku Wald 9 theater here: https://tjoy.jp/shinjuku_wald9It's one of just a couple theaters that have showings left today (and probably only one after 11PM), and has the most seating left. Scroll down after clicking the link, select the film, and you'll see its showtimes. The theater has 4 more showings before midnight (and 4 more after midnight). Click the showtimes remaining and add up how many seats have been sold. This will be the busiest theater and last one open tonight, so the remaining 591 it needs will mostly come from here.

Sell-rate for those seats will probably be very low though, even for Demon Slayer.

Unless it completely stalls it will get there. And I believe with actuals we might see all three days above 1m admissions.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Last 20 mins were only 114 admissions over 3k seats, so yeah, it might fall just short after all lol.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
The last update was literally a minute short of including the 10:35 (22:35) showing at Shinjuku Wald 9. You can't reserve a ticket in the final 15 minutes before the show begins, so I missed seeing how many seats had been sold at that showing. This single showing probably needed 200-300 just to be "safe" in selling the remaining 591.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
I don't think it's going to get there then, probably missing by 200 or 300. Not that it has to beat Saturday for any reason. Sunday is literally 99.96% of Saturday right now, it just would have been a nice cherry on top of this weekend. And it still might, I suppose, I'm looking around Tokyo for any theaters still open.

But if we include independent theatres it's sunday is a bit higher than Saturday.
